Yes, definitely take her with you! Our local shelters want that doggy meet-and-greet before taking a possible new dog home. And introducing a new dog is better in neutral territory, not in the resident dog's home place.
Sometimes having the new dog be of the opposite sex works better too.

Take Freya with you when you go meet the dog. Milo actually pick out his baby brother. Put his paw on Otis's head, twice. Best friends and inseparable. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for them to adjust.

Oh, yes, she definitely goes with us if/when we go. If there are signs that it won't work, it ends right there. She gets along with all the dogs she's met, so far.

Here is some of the gingerbread cake that I made. I buttered the slices to eat them.

Happy New Year, everybirdy!

This will be a better year, I can feel it. Or is that just New Years Day hopefulness?

DH is on board with enlarging the coop! I plan to add 3 birds. I'm thinking I'll wait until Widget, my broody hen last year, goes broody -- after we add on to the coop! -- and sneak 3 pullet chicks under her.

I'll also ask my neighbor about her plans. If she would take a(ny) cockerels, I'd consider hatching eggs from my chickens.

I'm wondering what a Chantecler over: a) blue or black Australorp, or, b) Jubilee Orpington would look like...

Oh, had another hatching idea...

I'm thinking about Bielefelders. Yeah, I know they eat a lot. That's their downside. Upside is autosexing at hatch (neighbor, will you want the cockerels?), and large eggs. And table size too, if I could ever get DH on board with that. So far, that is a HARD no.
