Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi everyone! Thank you #1muttsfan. Hope that everyone had a good Christmas season and all looking for a better year. Rose, my heart and prayers go out to you and your family.
I am ok. Chickens getting older as their mama. Very blessed that they have been thriving. LoveChild has knocked every girl except Sophia NN. She is a hurl of wind dressed as chicken. Looking forward to gardening soon. Quackies are doing good to. Pulled their kiddie pull a few days and at 38 they were having a pool party as I watched freezing from the glass doors, lol
Drove to Tampa and back. Yes, I missed the blizzard but I needed to tend to much needed things. Back more focused on what I need but back to hpb. After winter hopefully the trigger is gone and can get it back to normal.
Not wanting to be in computer much, so I know I have been away. On cell is not the same. Had a great time today with my best buddy and she game me so much gardening wisdom. So happy to see her.

Finished all 300 beanies for shelters. Crocheted gifts for friends in Tampa. Now crocheting a butterfly prayer shall for my sister.

Question for my fellow Michigander chicken keepers...where would you advise someone to get chicks this spring? I want to support a Michigan based farm or business if possible. Who have you had good experiences with?
Thanks!!
I got my first chicks from TSC in Lowell. My only word of caution is: "Straight Run" means, "It's probably a cockerel." I bought 3 SR, thinking I had a one-in-eight chance of them all being cockerels. And yup, that's what I got.

Now, my neighbor has bought both straight run and pullets, and has gotten ONLY pullets! Some people have all the luck.

TSC chicks aren't anything better than hatchery quality, but so far, they've all been healthy.

Thanks for sharing your experience :) I have gotten chicks from TSC, and ordered from Townline hatchery in Holland MI, both were good experiences. I'm planning my order and trying to decide who to go with. I am hoping for several different kinds of chickensI'm not sure if tsc will carry some of them in 2023...decisions decisions :)
