I'm not, either. Much to do, yet. Supposed to be a decent day on WednesdayLittle bitty white things falling from the sky, and on the windshield. Snow!
It is late October, and it's time. Am I ready? Not!

Makes a huge difference! DH installed an outlet inside my run, so I now have a simple, hanging light and an easier way to plug in the electric water bucket. I need to dig up my cord for that. Still have to put up my heavy-duty, clear tarp, too.Snow for Halloween. Now that's scary.
I got the wind block panels up on the run, but not the shower curtains. There was a stiff breeze out of the west, and I could really feel a difference after the panels were in place, as they are on the west side.
I hope we get some dry and not too blustery hours tomorrow. Still so much to do to get the run ready for winter. The shower curtains is the big one, but I need to dig out the heated water bowl, find the string of lights, and get the extension cord in place. The short hours of daylight and the low sun angle really make a difference!
Weds-Fri are supposed to be dry, so I'll be doing a lot of winterizing in the run. I did notice that the chickens spent a lot more time hanging out in the coop yesterday. The filters over the openings made it almost draft free. The pop and people doors were still open, but the wind was from the west. The doors open to the north.Supposed to be a decent day on Wednesday
Yeah, it seems very unfair that they should molt, just as the cold is startingWeds-Fri are supposed to be dry, so I'll be doing a lot of winterizing in the run. I have one hen who is sleeping in the nest box, but she has lots of pins sticking out, so she is definitely allowed. That rule is not enforced on molting hens.
