You might want to consider how difficult it would be to get a dead bird out from under it. Higher would be easier

Great point!...I will go 1 cinder block higher. It did look a little low. I have no male children and I won't make the girls go under there for that (I know, I know, it's a double standard...but for the better I believe)...lol...So I guess the 24" off the ground will do nicely for me. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!!!

I just scrolled down for the second time today, finally caught the bird-in-the-tree I didn't know they were so small! Looks happy in there. :)

Mine are up 2 feet. Perfect enough to shimmy under if you need to collect/retrieve things.

Herducks I love the Silkie in the pine tree!

Fuzzybutt thanks for another great link. I just used your links today for dosing amount.... Another story in a minute.

Hope everyone had a great day. We were with my family last night, lots of fun. Today at home, peaceful and very nice. Tonight at the in laws, two near fist fights between SIL's and more chicken language ( fowl or rather foul talk) than my ears wanted to hear. Now home and back to peaceful.

I have had a sick chicken in the basement since yesterday. I didn't think she would make it this long but she's still alive at this point. I did give her some medicine after reading a bit and looking up info on Fuzzys wonder pages. I will be doing up swabs to send to the lab tomorrow ( as long as theyare open) and then pray it isn't something that threatens my whole flock.

Have a great rest of your holiday.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
I hope everyone had a good holiday season!!!

We got some awesome goodies today!
DS was very happy with all of his loot and Santa pulled through with the 2 things DS asked for. He got a ton of action figures... I think BF was more than happy to play with DS with them!! Most of what we got him was little things... everyone else got him the biggest items at the store it seems!!! *sigh*

I got to witness a very rare moment in life... My dad is a man that has no use for animals unless they are to be eaten... He played with my puppy and let her sleep on his feet

Maybe he is growing soft in his old age

She got to sleep in our bed last night because it was her first night away from all of her family

Today she got transported in a purse and thought she was the queen of the world!!!

My toe is swollen and I can't figure out exactly what I did to it...I have abused my feet pretty good this week...

Maybe it was my new kicks from my SIL... that should have come with a pole...

Or my new boots I wore home tonight... either way OUCH!!!

Those are some HOT shoes! I would break an ankle in them (wedges only for me!) but I would drool over them in the store just a little.

Our new silky has matted/poop-crusted foot feathers. Do I need to bring her in for a bath, or is this kind of normal for this time of year/weather?

Also, my houdan is getting her crest feathers picked at and pulled out, and the polish we got last week looks about the same. The houdan had a little blood on her head yesterday (presomably from all the broken feather shafts since I couldn't find a cut or peck anywhere) so I brought her in and cleaned her head up and put some blukote on it. Is this something we'll have to live with if we're going to keep our crested and un-crested birds together?

Hey TC and CR, nice to see you guys!

Had a very nice Christmas with my BF's family. They are really great folks and treat me well, but I missed seeing at least some of my family on Christmas. Not that we really spend Christmas together anymore, since we are spread out all over the US. Got a great old Schwinn fat-tired bike to use while down here, it is very cool and retro. The best gift was the great fishing yesterday afternoon, we caught 4 huge Black Drum, a couple Sheepshead, Mangrove Snappers, and a Redfish. At the dock when we cleaned them there were great and lesser egrets, pelicans, and a HUGE Wood Stork surrounding us, all looking for fish-cleaning handouts. It was almost as good as the fishing.

I do hope my birds are all weathering the snow well, but am not yet in a hurry to come home - going to the East coast today and it is supposed to be in the 80's.
