Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Not touching the "appearance" topic for today. My opinion is not so important on it that it needs shared or explained.

Went out to check on the girls this morning since we're having issues with the timer for the pop door not running at the correct times and them getting 'locked' outside mid-morning, and it not closing at night. While I was there I noticed that they had emptied their feeder, so I refilled it and they all attacked it like they'd never see another meal! Of course, our little Bantie (appropriately named Minnie) got squeezed out from the stampede to the dish. She's the most clever little thing though, and managed how to get a nice spot all her own to eat.

*sigh*............... never mind.......... I'm one of those types of people........... thanks.

There is a reason that chain saws have small fuel tanks. After about 45 minutes of cutting green hardwood you are ready for a break. And you come in and play with the week-old chickies.

I do not have peircings or tattoos. I don't really appreciate them much. I see people with stretched lobes... couldn't care a fig. I see people tattooed all over... whippee. I have seen a 50+ woman who had been cut into several times for surgeries, skin sagging along with various other body parts that had been tattooed in her youth, and (I was a youngun at that time) and I made a decision at that moment that I wouldnt tatto my person. BUT to each his own. Me, I am a bum. I look like a bum. I somedays act like one too. I go to work, I work hard. I work hard in my yard and coops. Somedays I am utterly filthy walking into a store, and I do get stares, and I am certain that there are skeets and giggles going on behind my back. I unfortunetly have enough personal self worth to not give a rats behind if some one thinks less of me because I do not meet standards of acceptibility by fellow humans. Does it have anything with being raised right or wrong? Absolutely not. And to say or think that these young people were not raised right and thats why they've expressed themselves that way...is just... narrow. Body modification has been practiced since the 1500's in European cultures. This is just an extension of that.

However... I agree about the fishing... Why the heck would you go fishing and NOT have the necessary supplies, and of course lures in the event that you run out of minnows, worms, or hotdogs. Yes, hot dogs. I have fished with them, and have caught some nice rainbow trout and perch with them.

Yea, not cool how everybody just passed judgement on an entire group of people. I'm appalled to read that here, actually. Having tattoos and piercings doesn't make you a bad person. It doesn't make you an unsuccessful person. So great to know that someone with such features are not welcome here. Perhaps I'm not welcome here then, since even though I don't have tattoos and only have my ears double pierced (radical, more than just a single piercing!) I don't think badly of those people.

I ended up with 14 chicks out of 27 ebay eggs( the auction was for 24). Of the ones that didn't hatch, 3 had started and died before reaching hatchability, the rest were non starters. Works for me. And I got an assortment of very cute standard cochins. That I hope are as nice as the flock pictures indicated.

Everyone is welcome here, and I don't think anyone said they are not. Someone gave an opinion, and it's just that. No need to get the hackles up in air. We know first impressions are just that. Often times we find out what a wonderful person he/she turned out to be. There are good and bad in all walks of life. Please, let's not get this thread banned again. We've met so many wonderful people on this thread, and I hope to meet more at the next Chickenstock.

Do you mind me asking the sellers name? I'm considering lf Cochins if we have coop space this summer.
