Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I am doing chickens, i am just learning. only had one hatch out of a dozen fertile eggs last time. kinda know what i did wrong.. temp to low for my incubator.
have to get this downpat b4 i try something else.. good luck with your hatch.
so glad her egg hatch out for you.. Congratulations. atleast its a happy ending.. did you get a male or female chick.. hopefully its a girl just as sweet as mommy

we're hoping it's a girl but time will tell. I know how to tell in a week or so IF it feathers out like a faverolle, but the daddy is a silver/sort of Columbian Easter egger. Right now it is yellow like mom was but I'm sure those ee genes will make it hard to tell!

We had an exciting afternoon,, I went out about 3 and dumped the ash bucket in the garden(last nights ashes) not much in there (I thought) the lovely wind fanned the few coals that were left and started the side yard on fire. Hose of course is locked in the barn. got started so fast, I called the fire dept. right away and was glad I did. spread over almost a1/2 acre before we got it out.
no harm done but it sure spread fast. Very glad I didn't wait to see if I could get it out alone before calling the fire dept.
thank god you called.. glad it didnt spread anymore then it did.. thats scary.

Goodness yes, a real blessing that you acted quickly Snowflake! Windy day here. That ash will make for a very lovely wild flower field this season, if you are so inclined.

That is an excellent idea, I have a lot of old seed people have given me, perfect time to see what will come up. I have a very large amt. of peas also I can put out there.
Thank you for the idea

WOW!!! So glad you caught it in time!

Amy - That cake is amazing! I can see my kids begging for one.

Wish me luck! Tomorrow I start work on the shed to clean it out, divide it in half, and then set it up for the chicks. This should be interesting. My building skills are limited and my friend is not exactly someone you want to put in charge of doing something not supervised. I love her and she is a huge help, but common sense is not something she uses.

I wish our Tractor Supply did swap meets. That is really cool!

There will be one here in Holland Starting beginning of May...

Yikes. Well, now that you've burned, accidentally, should get nice growth in.
