Well I sent my husband and son to check for eggs yesterday while I was on my way home from grocery shopping. They found 10!!
Of course, so far today there's only one, so who knows what those ladies are up to!

Eggs are cooking away in the incubator. I'm really hoping that I've gotten my issues figured out and have a good hatch.

My husband and I have done some planning, and some math and I think we've figured out a shelter plan for the meat birds. (The bonus to it is that I'm pretty sure if I really wanted to, I could put some layers in it come winter if I need the space.) Yesterday we bought a truck for him to use for work, so now we have something to haul wood home in too! YAY!

We also have a new foster-dog. He's a Plott Hound and a complete sweetheart and couch potato. I'm not in love with him, but I took him out to the run today and he seemed pretty gosh-darn indifferent to the birds. No obsessive staring, barking, charging. Nothing. He sniffed around and pretty much wanted to keep going. For some reason he doesn't seem to know how to play (with people or other dogs) which is really sad. Our lab tries to get him to play and the hound just doesn't know what to do.
Maybe he'll get more playful as he comes out of his shell more.....chicken-friendly is in the top 3 of the 'requirements' on our list for our next dog.

 for all of the newbies
