Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I think a bright pink breast cancer awareness garage would be awesome.

You know, that is not a bad idea. Let's take it further.
All of the magnetic ribbon stickers would look great on the front of the garage door.
Pick your charity and send me a sticker. POW/MIA, Breast Cancer, Autism, whatever. Send me a sticker or decal and I'll put it up on the part of the garage that can actually be seen from the sidewalk.

Speaking of colors, help me decide what color to get for our shade sail. We are giving up on finding a gazebo/pergola thing that won't blow over in our Michigan storms and taking the plunge into one of these Coolaroo shade sails: http://www.amazon.com/Coolaroo-Cust...473&sr=1-1&keywords=coolaroo+custom+rectangle Anyone have experience with them? Our 12x36 deck is hellishly hot now that the electric company cut all the branches off our trees last fall, and I hate heat. Trying to decide between ochre red and sky blue which both have pretty good ratings for shade (http://www.arizonasunsupply.com/coolaroo/USA Commercial 95 -Product Profile Rev.2 08-05.pdf) I love when a company gives you more information than you know what to do with. I might get their cheaper version of shade and put one or two over parts of my chicken run if this works well.

Personally, I would do a garage-size mural of a chicken . . . maybe even an abstract rendition of a chicken, lol. Is artwork banned in your lovely city, too?

The sky blue seems more "natural" to me. Just my opinion.

We have a lot of city art. The red pig, 2 rusted hoops welded together, the vertical I-beam, and some piles of bricks. All of that is "downtown". In front of the vacant buildings.

I should do a photo tour,

Off topic, but not sure where to post this ...so I picked the michigan thread. I am looking for fertile hatching eggs in the following breeds, light or coronation sussex, white orphington, light brahma, and lemon cuckoo orphingtons. Also meat eggs such as a Cornish rock.

I am in lower michigan near battle creek and would prefer to purchase local-ish instead of shipping. I tried shipping eggs and well, it didn't turn out very well.

How about this? Green trim. cheesy plastic shutters painted purple and pink curtains in the window?

Yes, yes, yes! Ad lets just skip the green all together & have purple trim w/the pink! AND, I love the sticker/decal idea! I am bringing some to CS!!

I just awoke to the sound of screaming raccoons so I took the flashlight out to the coops to check on everybody. All's well and the stars at 4am are simply breathtaking. The milky way is clearly visible. Just awesome. BUT, I'm going back to bed.

LOVE the garage Raz.

Morrisonmanor, welcome. I'm sure someone on here can help you find some, at least, semi-local hatching eggs.

Garage is finished. Well at least this side.

Well, I do need to put the fascia trim up yet. What colour? Red or green?

Just in case anyone wonders, the last 2 photos were taken from the neighbor's yard, 2 doors up. I had permission to be in his yard. No trespassing was involved in obtaining these photograph
Raz you did a awesome job, I think sky blue is a great choice of color.

My shirt was in the mail yesterday and since I don't do white, I tie dyed it.

Exciting news, The library board has approved me starting a "Beaks 'N Books" program this fall. Think "Paws for Reading" or "R.E.A.D.", only using chickens. I have lots to do to finalize everything.

This week I did up a nice temporary fence for my younger birds and silkies. I still let them come out and free range but have a place if I don't want them to. Twice my silkie girl Snowball has wandered off - a long way. I found her once and my son on his 4-wheeler found her once. She has never gone more than a few feet until the past two weeks. I'm not sure what she is thinking now.
