Been gone for several days, went back some pages, did I miss something? are you able to have chickens now? Or are you hatching for some one else?It looks like I'll be getting eggs to incubate later this week.
I've never done this before and it looks like I'll have to hand turn the eggs (no turner with the bator).
Now I'm nervous...any one with a broody hen to loan out?

I don't have room for more but I have some sweet ameracaunas and chanteclairs that are show wothy (I think) and would love to learn more about showing.I just moved to harrison michigan i would like to get back in to show poultry if any one in the area has room i would like to rent some coops space
That is very sad, my heart goes out to that familyAs I sit drinking the first coffee of the day I think about how fortunate I am to be awaiting the arrival of another sunrise. The news is filled with tragedy and sadness and closer to home I am reminded that none of us are immune.
Two nights ago the lights of both an ambulance and a fire truck lit the neighborhood as the stopped directly across the street. They soon left with the husband of a girl I had watched grow up. They were at her parent's house showing how their week old baby when he experienced an aneurysm. Yesterday the decision was made to take him off life support. So young, with so much of life awaiting him and it was gone in an instant.
sounds delicious, just froze some blueberrys hope to get some peaches soon,Spiced Blueberry Peach Jam [makes about 8 half pint jars]
I have too manyu roosters too, Lavender Ameracauna, black amaracaunas , partrige and buff and white chanteclair, delaware, spanish mix, all will most likely go to freezer camp,
I was always able to legally have chickens. It is just a temporary set-back that the judge failed to follow state law.Been gone for several days, went back some pages, did I miss something? are you able to have chickens now? Or are you hatching for some one else?
I agree and the ones I had were from kathyinmo's older line too. Snowflake has one of them, my favorite that I called Shug. She became broody just 3 weeks after laying her first egg!Jake, if I had not just hatched out some more CL's and did not have Swedish Flower Hen eggs on the way, I would take you up in a second. For those who have not had Delawares, they are great producers of very nice brown eggs, and nice hens to have around. The boys grow up to excellent eating size.
Oh, that's wonderful! I love seeing the broody mama's with their babies. I had forgotten that you got the Jersey Giant too. I love the NH's they are such great birds.HH, the New Hampshire went broody this summer and hatched 2 sweet chicks, they are 3 months old and she is still mothering them, the Jersy Giant went broody and I let her hatch 2, 3 weeks ago and she has already abandond them, Go figure, at least there are 2 so they hang out together and are doing well
I have not had any problems with hawks this yr. but have seen a lot over the fields latley, must be getting ready for winter
Anyone care to take a pet quality silkie roo? He has a sixth toe and a kinda bent over comb that goes to his right side. He is free to a good home. He's gotten a little rough with some of my smaller girls since the big ones don't give him the time of day. Pm me if you are interested and ill send you a pic of him. If not probably going to go away this weekend...
