Maybe someone can help me? I have a baby chick limping..I can't see anything wrong with his/her leg...And he/she won't eat..It is eating grass when it isn't laying down in the shade...And it did drink some water when i afford it to him/her...I am new to having chickens..I don't have a clue what to do for it...Thank you for any help..

I would cage the baby with its momma and other chicks for a day or two to make sure he doesn't get left behind and see if it recovers. Keeping feed and water close and available 24/7. Have you picked him up and examined him closely? If you don't see anything wrong then it may just be a temporary thing that will go away as long as he keeps warm, fed, and comfortable.

I have a question for you rabbit folks. My son found a small rabbit that has been injured and wants to help. If you know anything here's my questions?
Can you get rabies from a wild rabbit, I'm not looking to do the shot series.
How old does a rabbit need to be to survive without its mother.
What to feed.
How to treat its injuries.
You can pm me, thanks if you can help.

I really wish we could have just left it but even when I told him it would most likely die he said we need to do what we can, so.....

From what I've read and heard, a wild rabbit orphan is not likely to survive. They have special needs, colostrom or something from mother rabbit.
Sometimes it is better to let Nature take over. Even if it is a sad lesson for kids.

Yuip, have to agree with RaZ on this one.

The thing is, in the wild, a mother rabbit does not stay with her babies at all. She'll come once or twice a day, weaving a twisted path, then making a huge leap to the burrow/nest so the scent is just... cut off. So, when we well meaning people take rabbits, thinking they were abandoned, we've actually doomed the poor creatures to death. However, looking at your little cotton tail, I am going to say it's probably old enough to be away from mom already, I could be wrong, so don't quote me.

Rabies, I don't think so. I'd head on over to the feed store and get some rabbit feed, small bag and what ever else it may need for a few days, vitamins-electrolytes-whatever. I think the best person to ask would be either RIRJen, or Uchytle...tal... something... John...There we go. LOL. They are the rabbit people

The bunny was out trying to hop around but has injuries/possible bite marks on its leg. I know it won't survive if its not weaned but I have no idea on age. We saw a cat around this morning and the guineas chased it off, I'm sure it is the culprit.

Bunnies can surprise us. "IF" the little guy is eating solid food, he "MAY" survive, "IF" his injuries aren't that bad. If he's eating solid food (his eyes are open so it's almost certain he is) then he doesn't need colostrum and Mamma wouldn't have it anyway. Commercial rabbit food and fresh water. Good luck with the little guy.
We just had a major jail break of bunnies. Himself separated the babies last week, and one of the feeders came loose. Lost 9 bunnies; although I did manage to catch one last night. I saw him eying me, so put some food down - he came right up to me so I picked him up and put him in a spare cage. (himself is hunting so couldn't help). I also lost 2 chickens, to hawks I think.

A friend of mine does wildlife rescue and has said in the past that they are unlikely to survive a cat bite. Cat saliva is quite toxic to animals. Heck my friends mom ended up in the hospital from her cat! Hopefully you can save him, but just make sure your kiddo is prepared for the worst.

Sorry Tap... for some reason I didn't read that it was YOU who wrote the bunny rescue. LOL. I do think though that you can try cleaning the wounds like you would for any of your chickens... see how it goes.

TC... Himself needs a spanking for not coming home right away to help you catch your escapees... Just kidding. That has really got to suck. Neighbors do rabbits also, I won't. I am allergic, I will do all their rabbit care though when they are gone for a few if needed. LOL. Hawks... we've got one circling the back yard. I was telling Carl that it'll be time by the end of the month to start being on the serious look out. For the moment, plenty of rabbits.

Some moron hit a goose yesterday. Left it. It ended up dying right on the sidewalk just across from my drive way. Yuck. Well... Guess I will not have to worry on raccoons or possums for a few. They've got a meal right there. I think by the size it was one of this years hatchlings. Canadian goose.

Check out the color on this phoenix pullet. Her wing tips and her tail are the blue. Prettiest girl chicken I have.
