Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

But - Where's the chickens??
I kind of said the same thing. But i see eggs in the pine cones and feathers in the surrounding garland.
Then again, I'm no art critic.

This morning i went to run a cord out to the big coop, its a little bit farther away from house then the coop i used last year.. the cord was to short.. so in order to get the cord to work i now have chrismas lights in my coop, there on a timer and will be on from 5am - 9am.. try that for awhile till they my girls start laying better.. i been averaging 4 - 6 eggs a day from 14 hens.. and i used to get 9-14 so big difference in numbers.. so will see how this works.. I have been selling out of eggs pretty quick.. i have litterally 3 eggs in my fridge right now and someone wants two doz.. so i am working on that order.

Snowflake congrats on all the awards..

cute puppy pictures.. what a goofy pup

Tap have fun tomorrow, and that chicken looks pretty happy and content with your son.. nice picture.

I think we could cut down on the number of commercial egg producers if we were simply allowed to raise our own chickens in rural settings. This fake egg thing sounds disgusting!

Cute puppy!!
I am seeing $3.00 a pound for turkeys on craigslist. So I'll go with that for now I guess. though they don't specify heritage or bbs.. I think heritage go for more generally.
So my doe should be due March 30th 2014. I'm getting things together that I'll need. I just realized I didn't get her registration papers finished. EEeeeks! so I have to do that........ well I also have to register a farm name with the ADGA. So I was playing with a name for this because my homestead names a bit iffy... and if I'm doing that I'm making a new logo too. So Pine Hollow is what I'm hoping to use..and here's the logo idea. OK, yes I'm bored its Friday and I wanna start the weekend!

I've got to look at my ADGA papers. I know when I got one of my Toggies the then owners sent in the paperwork on her and I don't recall them having a farm name. She's the only registered goat I have. My other two are paperless. I'm still trying to find a pure Toggenburg buck, or AI, to get her bred.

That's better than the carcasses DH's dog used to bring him. As a child he once found a dead rabbit in his bed. I think that would have scarred me for life, tucking in to a rabbit corpse at night, especially given that I played a rabbit in our shared imaginary Ranger Rick role play (with my sister). Becky Hare, if I remember correctly.

I just finished knitting up these kitties for my 4 yr. old niece's birthday tomorrow. They're made from my hand spun yarn, much of it from my own sheep. I appreciate being able to stuff toys with black wool, rather than stark white polyester filling. When the knit stretches, the stuffing doesn't show. I think she's going to love them. My sister, who is one of those people who lives through vicariously through her daughter, asked for monster high dolls and being a contrary, negative Nancy, I thought it was only appropriate to make something from scratch instead, just to spite her. Actually, I love making things for my nieces because I have no girls of my own, except for the chickens and ewes.

Thats all a 4yr old needs something cuddly and soft. I bet its going to be her favorite present and she keeps them around for a long time, unlike the plastic toys that will break in 4,3,2,1 seconds.
Aww Raz nothing better than a paper roll protector. Those things can sneak up on you at night.
