What's the difference between redcote and blucote?
Isn't the major point of blucote to make it not red?
Yes, but I have never used red cote so I don't know what's in it.

@snowflake last week I was just stretched so thin, I was feeling really rotten until I fixed up a batch of Kahlua Brownies -AND- a batch of fudge. Then all was better! I totally understand you.

I imagine my pen is a wreck too. It will be ok.

Kahlua brownies... share? :p

I'll have some help with mowing the lawn soon.... This is penny, a little Jacob's ewe. I got a call last night that the owner wants to pull her from her herd because she is so tiny that she is getting pushed around too much by her larger ewes. She knew I loved Jacobs.. I have also been wanting to get wool, I'd really love to learn how to spin and yes, knit. So, hopefully, she'll keep my doe goat company when I pull the boys to another pasture. (I know they have different mineral needs).
She is adorable! Her patterning is so different from mine. I have one runt too, who doesn't have any horns at all. She holds her own though, headbutts with the best of them. But yeah, no copper allowed for the sheep. It's toxic to them. Most feed stores and even mills will automatically bring out the goat minerals when you ask for sheep minerals. You have to check the labels carefully, in my experience. I've taught a several clerks a thing or two about sheep.

Ah, yes, pretty please share ??!!!!

So. Spoke too soon. Things are going HORRIBLY with Partridge in with Spaz. I may just have to kick her back out, leave Spaz alone here in the house while I'm gone & deal with it when I get home.
This is just killing me. Partridge is being beyond a brat. Spaz is living on top of the waterer & partridge is pecking at her EVERYWHERE. NO blood....but, I just can't worry about this while I'm gone.

My flight is at 6:00am, so have to blast from here ~3:00 tomorrow morning. Maybe earlier based on the road ice rinks.....guess I should think about packing...

Oooh...sun is coming out here :D

(Goodness...you should here the noises coming from the spare bedroom right now....)

This time of year, I'd rather have snow. Melting snow has no where to go the ground is too frozen. My coops are going to be a sloshy mess! The chickens at least can move around in the dryer area. This has been a crazy winter so far.

red cote is red... yes... but it's not going to be pleasant for any bird with pecking. It SMELLS. I have used blue kote on chicks before. I have used it on older birds. BUT I have found I like the red cote better. Its' good for leg mites also, since it's oil. It's a stronger antiseptic than the blue. You can get it as a spray, or in a glass bottle with a dauber. Have put it on legs for mites, have put it on combs and wattles from rooster injuries, and I have yet to have another chicken peck at a chicken with this stuff on. Did I mention how bad it smells? It smells like you are going in to a medical washing room... concentrated... yeah. Love the stuff.

Sorry Spaz is not having a good time.

I love Jacob sheep! They are so beautiful with the patterned fleeces and the multiple horns on the rams. My husband and I are going to be getting a flock sheep for meat lambs once we find a farm to buy. I don't know what kind yet, but I also love Dorpers especially since I've never shorn anything before.
