Yet once again Mother Nature has decided to ignore my feelings on the subject and is sending us another round of snow. I know it no longer holds the same attraction it once had. Now the forecasters are saying we could be blessed with 5-7 more inches.
I was hoping that we would get a respite so that David and I could get into the woods at our farmer friends. He heats his house with wood and we didn't check when his nephew informed us that he had a winter's supply of wood stacked in the barn. As it turned out there wasn't enough to even get him through January.
The deep snow drifts makes it impossible to get to the woods to cut more so we were hoping that a few days of no snow would allow us to plow our way in. I had a friend take him 2 face cords last week but that will soon be gone. Fortunately he has a dual heating system so he can switch over to propane if necessary.
My flock had been laying quite well and then production dropped drastically. Two days in a row they only gave me 2 eggs and then yesterday it was up to 5. Hopefully it will pick by up soon.
I'm hoping that my dropping my USB flash drive into my cup of coffee isn't a portent of how the day is going to proceed.
