I'll take 5 ounces of Golden Lace Cochin and 2 grams of Cornish X please.

I kept my two good boys
They have jealous scuffles ( blue bunny don't like sharing my attention with little maurice, maurice is 3 and thinks bunny is scary-1 yr. Neither have a bit of tough in them. Lol )

I am very pleased with my hops. A couple of shoots are chest high already. Most are knee high.
What do you grow your hops for? Brewing, or other purposes ? I haven't seen hops grown since I left the UK! They grow tons there for the brewing industry, plus they smell gorgeous as a dried home decoration.

I grow them for brewing and they also make a good living screen. I love the smell of hops. There is a native hop vine growing at MBG and I like to share the aroma with the tour groups in the fall.

Hiya guys! Does anybody have any methods as to how I can call my chickens to come to me? If you do, that would be quite helpful. Thanks!

Sorry for interrupting your previous conversation.

You can 'train' them to come to you by shaking the goodie can and saying something.......I say chookchookchook.

How do you pronounce your name Jeym?

I yell come on, come on, come on and reward them with either food from a bucket I carry or a few BOSS. Started the first time by giving the evening meal of FF when in the coop before roost and saying it. Then do the same to call them in at night or when I want to leave and go somewhere.

Do the same often when outside just to get them to come and will drop a few seeds.

But now that spring is here (sort of) I just pick up the shovel and start digging.....LOL they know it means possible unearthing of goodies.

Thank you! You pronounce it Jem, but thats my pen name. I never really use my real name because everyone always pronounces it wrong.
(I knew someone was going to ask that question at some point!)

I have learned that the chicks that seek you out become adults that seek you out. Other than bloodline though my secret weapons are people foods and bananas, but only in small amounts once or twice a week. :) You can't NOT hug mine; they fly up on your lap and settle in. The roos try to walk up my front to lay over my heart and stick their faces under my chin....I am nuts about birds and i'm sure the idiot smile i get around them makes me endearing in their eyes. ;)
