I get mine at Family Farm and Home or the local grain store at about 4.50 per bag.

Hi all. I'm brand new to the forum and to keeping chickens and ducks. I have 5 chickens (waiting for more clear indications on sexes) and 2 Pekins. I'm located along the central-western shore of Michigan and for anyone in the area, you know how difficult it has been to get my babies outside for good! Late frosts and lots of rain!

I have 2 salid bars in my run, they are all based on this design, http://www.fresh-eggs-daily.com/2012/05/diy-chicken-salad-bar-giveaway-from-my.html?m=1Hello Michigan group!
I'm in West MI, near Grand Rapids. I'm just now planting a chicken salad bar for my 7 girls. I was wondering if anyone had luck with growing their own lettuce. spinach, etc for them? I was thinking they would eat it all way too fast. Much faster than I can grow it.
Also has anyone used beach sand for a dust bath? I live about 10 minutes from Lake MI and can get lots of free sand. I was thinking of making a dust bath area with some clean beach sand but didn't know if it would be good for them.
Thanks!
LOL ...the 'West Coast' of Michigan covers dozens of towns!I love that we all call Muskegon "our west coast".My family all live up and over that way.![]()
