Just watched a Coopers hawk at my front window, and sitting on the front porch. Hoping to get a songbird at the feeder, but flew away without. Beautiful! I'll keep my birds in their run today, just because. They aren't thrilled with the snow anyway. I'm not loving the cold!!! Has anyone had Campines? I'm thinking about spring, and haven't ever tried them. Cold hardy? They look cute, and I'm not fan of Leghorns. Mary

Raising my sons was super easy. As babies they almost never cried, as young children they never misbehaved in public, as young teens, on days I was working, they would take on the household chores so that on my days off the work would be done and I could take them hunting, fishing, skiing, rock climbing etc. As adults they never asked for help but I would help them when I became aware that help would be welcomed.

The stepsons were much more difficult. After a bitter custody battle the boys lived with their father for five years until he could no longer handle them. His idea of child rearing was to teach them them to always rebel against all authority figures. Making the situation worse was that he fostered animosity between the two of them. He claimed that it would make them stronger to face the world as adults, but the only result I ever saw from it was two brothers who could not stand being in the same room with each other.

Since he lives in the western UP he would see the boys for 6 months at a time and during that time they show vast improvement. However, a 2 week stay with their father was all it took for them to revert back to their old ways. At times I didn't think it would be possible to straighten them out. Yet we got through it and they are now in their 30s and married. When the youngest became a father he told me he hoped he could be the kind of father I was rather than how his father had been.

The older of the two is doing quite well and helps his mother a lot, but the younger still needs our help from time to time.

we I guess im like a duck...cause I cant feel a thing.....or wait maybe that's my fingers being numb...from the weather....lol...its not that bad...the only time its bad is when the fingers get wet...and then the wind on the wet skin make it painful...but anything for my birds....

Got back from Mom's doctor appointment where they injected into her lumbar spine to try to help out her bulging disk issues there. Collected eggs from everybody, and opened the door to the coop to try to get them out for a bit. There was some ham in the fridge that was left over from Christmas, it looked ok, but eh, needed to get used up. I tried to get the velocoraptors out in the snow, but they would run out just far enough to snatch a piece and head back inside with it, even with the other five there wanting to snag a piece of it.

Going to head over to Dad's later on. He slipped on some ice yesterday and shattered his wrist. goes in Thursday for surgery, and guess who gets to take him over there?
