Nice pics of humanitarian work. I have a friend that travels to the Ukraine to build houses, etc. on missionary trips. I've asked him how I could go but have not had the chance. Would like to try a trip at some point somewhere to do a little good for someone else in need.

The pics from Africa were cool. I just went through my pics from Oz. Stayed there and NZ for a month. Would love to go back.

Sorry to hear about all the frozen pipes.

and that is corn growing just everywhere, man I wish I could get two planting and harvest of corn, but their sweet corn well its not sweet...

and here's where you went to get your meat unless you grabbed one off the street saw a turkey tied to a street pole I need to see if I got a picture of that.....

So just some pictures from my trip to Uganda spent most of December there....should have stayed longer.....

Hubs went to Angola last year. What a culture shock for him, he made some good friends though. Nice pics, love the longhorn just roamin'.

I have not yet been to Africa, but am planning on it in the near future. I have been to Indonesia in the Banda Aceh area, almost as far north as you can go. We were helping rebuild after Hurricane Katrina went through and destroyed most of the homes along the western coast for miles. Some rebuilding pictures. These were inland about 10 miles and were built for the families that lost everything they had or owned.
That's me in the white headband. We think that the weather here is warm in the summer, well there the sun is from almost directly overhead so it's almost twice as hard on a person. We ate a lot of local popsicles in an effort to stay cool. It helped some, but it was almost unbearable at times.

Welcome to the new folks1 The pictures from Africa look WARM, so much better than here. Birdman, hope your water woes are fixed. We had ugly winter water adventures this week; frozen line from well to house, huge digging project with welldrilling people, and after three days, running water again! At least no flooding in the house, but fun times getting water for the horses, cattle, and chickens. Bring on spring!!! Mary

It seems my ventilation holes in one coop roof were not weasel proof. I had one visit last night and kill 6 bantams. I followed his tracks coming in but there are none leaving so traps are being set. For those of you who are not familiar here are a set of track, the trap set and a nice hole in the chicken yard where he may be camped out.

Kinda random but been stewing over a possible home for a couple of my doves. Mentioned them in conversation with a stranger, she says she had been looking to possibly get pet birds and she spent a lot of time with her grandmothers doves and offered to let me see her house first without me asking.

Thing is, doves are easily scared and delicate. So that is one fear i have. Also i was not planning on taking money for the ones i was going to rehome, and since they go for $30 and though i got a steal of a deal on their dog kennel style cage they go in stores for over $100 at that size.....could be looking to resale and cash in.


Waffling and uncertain how to weed out the wrong people. I would love to keep them all but did not mean to have so many i just kept getting boys! And my plan to match like with like went amuck since the lady bird had so many to choose from....lol. I am still looking for a wild type color female. And you thought chicken math was bad!!!

I dont know where your at but there is a guy in harrisville who has all kinds of Doves that might have some matches for you. He even has some of those fantail looking type. i have his contact info if you live close enough and want to get a hold of him.

I am all the way in coopersville anyway fantail would be pigeons, i believe. I still can't make out whether the one i want to breed is male/ female?! Darn unisex birds. This bird is very dark, small, and built much like my little runt mourning dove i had. Quiet disposition, as well. While the other ringnecks are screaming back and forth and very active this one plops down on the perch and gets comfy. Same as my other bird did. Same puffing and posing and grooming every time i happen to look his/ her way as well.
