Sell my eggs for $4/dozen at work. The city folks there were/are more than willing to pay upwards of $6 (what some had been paying at specialty markets claiming "farm fresh").
Told them I didn't feel comfortable with $5-6. The $4 covers pretty much all of my expenses...
Pretty much a win-win for all!

I've sold some of my extra's at work or my girlfriends work for 4 bucks, and that's in AA.

I got a late start to the day today.

I found an old puppy harness to get one of my lame pekins up off his/her legs for a while. The other one is looking a bit better today it seems, but I'd still like to rig him/her up too. I only have 1 puppy harness though, so I'll have to think of something.


The chickens are looking more and more adult every day. When should I open up the nest boxes? What material are you all using for nest box curtains?

No curtains here.....
....but the round entrances do afford a more cozy feel I suppose and help old the bedding in.
I just like how they look.

We went to Family Farm and Home for the girls 4H bake sale and I fell in love with a khaki duckling. This one had a much lighter bill with a dark stripe down the middle. But I didn't get it dont want to chance any more drakes.

Does anyone know what would peck holes in the heads of baby wrens in the nest and then throw them out? We found 2 on the ground and one dangling from the house,while momma was screaming her head off in a nearby tree with the male nowhere to be seen, we suspect sparrow.

Starlings would be high on my list - not only non-native, but deadly killers of other bird's offspring.

better than me. got the word today that my new hen that's been in isolation has laid 3 eggs.

gotta get a nest box in there for her soon.

Note about CS... If anyone is coming from or near Zeeland Michigan, and would like to bring some olive Eger eggs to CS chicken from JackieandChicks, they need a ride. PM either of us if you are.

Also, I'm still buying eggs if anyone wants to bring any. If you charge more than three dollars a dozen, PM me first. Buying all types of eggs don't care what kind and what color anything. Will also swap for Pysanky if anyone's interested, I'm bringing pysanky, but if I don't have enough, i can also ship you an egg later.
