Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Mean roosters don't last around here. Had one take a chunk out of my hand last year. My current boys (2yrs and 1yr) have never tried anything. Unless it's a super rare/good type/needed for a breeding project it's not tolerated at all.

My broody mama seems to have lost her chick. 2 days and it's nowhere to be seen. And she is back to sitting on any eggs she can get to.

This is the video I took while I was inside. I have another from when I was outside with him. I'll upload that next. He takes his first step around 30 seconds in

Looks pretty tender, but he is using it some so less likely to be broken. Would not hurt to confine him for a few days so that he rests it.

I am also not very tolerant of any aggression in roosters, especially if they are around children.

I've had some bad limpers.......have put the real bad ones in a wire crate in the coop for a couple days to force resting it.
Let them out an hour before roost time to assess movement, then grab off roost after dark for another day in crate if needed.

thx aart. ^^ That video was their time out before roost. I was able to grab him while he was out without too much fuss and put him off in one of the tubs I use as a brooder in the garage.

second video is still uploading/processing.

Quote: Maybe examine him closely feeling the bones for a break....
.......if it's not obvious, all you can do is wait, unless you can afford vet/xray.
It can take weeks for a bum leg/foot to heal up.

ETA: tho gotta say, a human aggressive cock really oughta just go into the pot, I wouldn't put up with that and certainly wouldn't hatch any of his offspring.

Here's the second video. I actually shot this one first, before the other video.

If the video shows over 4 min long, it stops after 2:08. I have a edit in process to cut out the black.
