Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'm really thinking I need a bigger coop. Shocker right? :p.

I want a coop I can walk into, and keep all the chicken related stuff in. Ideally, it would have electricity too.

I also think the ducks will get their own separate house to live in.

Anyone looking for turkey poults, just hatched to 3 months? I hatched too many as I am breeding for specific colors.

Those for sale are Bronze and red Bronze, some with a Blackwing gene and some with a Narragansett gene.

I figure I'd ask here before hitting Craigslist.

I had a horse accidently stomp on my toes..that was horrible! :) LOVE that beautiful Iowa girl you got there

Thus why you should always at least wear a good running shoe or something else that keeps your toes covered. sandals are a big no-no around horses.

i like planting a lot of bell peppers, a couple of tomato plants.
also we plant a few rows of sunflower, some spaghetti squash & pumpkin, & basil.
we had sunflowers last year and dried the heads for the girls over the winter. they loved it when I would toss in one of them to tear up. quality chicken entertainment.

Had a slight moment of panic tonight when I was putting the Rangers back into the brooder from being out in the play pen all day. Saw that one had a growth on it, then noticed that a couple of them all had some as well, all on the right front chest area. got to thinking about it and now I'm just pretty sure their crops were just all full. I just had never seen that before.

Really!?
One of the funniest things (to me) about chicks in the first few days when they really start eating, their crops get huge.

How can one feel behind because they haven't planted their garden yet? We had SNOW just six days ago!

Got to love this beautiful weather we are finally having!!

Hope more folks are signing up to come chickenstock picnic! It's such a enjoyable day. You won't be disappointed. Come and have some fun

I'll be putting the garden in this weekend and I don't think that I'm behind in any way. I expanded mine this year and used the slack time to allow the chooks to find the holes in the fencing. Had to sacrifice some hostas but it was worth it to see where the weak spots are in the fencing.

I opened the hive to check on the new bees and they are making nice honey and new comb.
I'm running a bit behind on some chores. The aftermath of the heart catheterization had me down for several days. It was worse than expected, but the swelling has gone down and I can walk without a limp now. It sure was a painful couple of days. They moved up the surgery by 2 days -- and I'm still trying to find a sitter.

I was wearing full tennis shoes LOL, my toes still bruised nicely anyway. I would never ride anything without good foot covering, makes me cringe to see people on motorcycles without helmets, wearing t shirts and flip flops! I have my motorcycle endorsement and had a bike when I was younger.

Was a girlfriends horse though....never lucky enough to be able to own my own horse..............yet !

I wish I could go to Chicken Stock as well, but I have a wedding. I went two years ago, and I loved it! I bought some great things and learned a lot, too!

Question: Why would a fresh egg yolk taste bitter? Or maybe sour? I can't put my finger on it. I fried an egg over-easy for lunch; the white was fine, but when I went to eat the yolk, it tasted so bad I had to spit it out! I'm a little paranoid right now only because I just started to sell my extra eggs, and I don't want to give a bad egg to a neighbor!
