Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Another Chickenstock in the books! Great time with our peeps, great food, nice and hot, and a great speaker from MSU. What more could we want? So, I have some pictures to go through and will post a few at some point. I now have the CS event "stuff" that RaZ has been graciously bringing every year, and, that said, I'll be bringing up more about next year's event at some point from the standpoint of the "stuff" I have. I'm hoping Candy will do most of the leg work again as she did a phenomenal job this year. Wynette did ask me to bring up a possibility of a Fall gathering, and while possible, it may just be that the spring CS is our best option (maybe a private party at "someone's house" this fall - you know who you are). I did get an email from Precious Kitty that she was swamped and could not attend today, and a few others that were no shows, well I'm sure there were reasons. So, anyone reading this should really consider the trip next year. There will be more to come this winter on all of that.

It was so good seeing my friends, and making a few new ones.

Uchytil (John) and Cindy from the Muskegon area.

P.S. WHO has the Backyard Chicken Banner we put up on the pavilion every year? It seems to be missing. I need to check my past year pictures and see when we had it last but I believe it was last year? It's a huge canvas banner so someone has stored it somewhere...

Was another fun time with lots of fun people! Really enjoyed it including the chicken chase we had at the end of the party. Neat stuff on the raffle and the food was wonderful!!!! Really didn't feel like legwork putting up the threads, but I am happy to do that anytime!
Wondering if maybe the Michigan thread people can put their 3 cents in to maybe changing the month to the 3rd weekend in May? or having a fall get together too like bi annual? There are many people that wanted to make it but did have unavoidable last minute things to attend to.

I remember seeing the banner the very first year we attended (2013) and honestly do not remember it after that? Opa have it by chance?

May is such a iffy month weather wise! We had snow last month!! This has been discussed before and it was decided that June would be safer. We need warmer weather for the chicks!
It was a fun time! Speaker was very informative.
That little chicken sure can fly! Glad we finally caught it! So far no reaction to the poison ivy I went thru.

Any goat keepers? I've been thinking about goats for about a year now, and an opportunity may have just come about. I need to setup a shelter and a pen area for them though, and wanted to get an idea of what I should do. I'm looking at a couple pygmy goats.

CS was a lot of fun today; great food, good company, and yes, Belgian d'Uccles really can fly! My big net didn't fit in the car, although I did think of it. Next year, everyone bring a net, right? Hopefully nobody gets poison ivy, and I'm so glad she was caught! Thanks, Candy, and John, and everyone, for making it a very good day. Mary

That darn thing must have about set a state record for a flying chicken.

**** thing blended into the bushes.

Finally captured the bugger! Really thinking about investing in a fishing net that can collapse down to travel in a car.

 I just went out to do final checks on the chucks before bed. I could smell a skunk so I wanted to make sure everythign was cool.

I checked on broody, and 2 of her eggs were pushed out from behind her, w/ her back facing them, still in the nest though. They were cold to the touch, so I may be down 2 more eggs! :( I tucked them back under her for now, and will check things out tomorrow.
