Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

When I have to use bait, I use broudificon, which is a warfarin type product, and has an effective treatment available. It's getting harder to find, which is sad, because the bromothelin products are much worse. Read the fine print on the packages to find it. Last year I stuffed bait blocks in the 'rat holes' and they covered them over, and checked twice daily. When there was no more activity, and the bait was no longer being eaten, I filled everything in again. Good luck! Ugh! Mary

He went over how to build a bait station and said to use a wax block 1st generation pesticide rather than a second.
The crazy thing is it they are in every coop. 6 in use and 2 empty. I only keep the feed in one location and not in a coop and I've been emptying feed dishes at night. My old box traps worked great 3 nights. I thought the springs had worn out so I bought all new. They worked three nights and now nothing. Either the mice ar getting smarter or they are just too small to trap. The bucket traps didn't catch a thing. The snap traps work but I just got tired of setting them every couple hours, they just didn't make a dent. I'd even consider a coop cat at this point but I think the turkeys would terrorize a cat. I don't want to use poison but I'm not sure what else to do. is there one that's "safer"?
MAN tap, I can't imagine a problem that bad. we had them in the basement and couldn't find out how they were getting in, we had one room left in the basement with insulation so we tore all the wall board off and the insulation was full of dead, mice and leavings. it was horrid but we did find some spots big enough for mice. with the coop I don't, know what to do with that many in the coop, I have mice in the coop but not that bad(I hope), If you find a solution let us know, I have heard of people sticking dark chocolate down the holes or into a place the other animals cant get it, you have to keep it up till they are gone.

Fowl Fest is a event where there are a lot of fowl. Some show their birds. Its fun to see all the different breeds! There are all sorts of birds, ducks, geese, turkeys. You name it! Also, a lot for sale, also. It's held indoors

Going camping this week end. Sorry I'm going to miss it

I'll be ther Saturday, and still have three Belgian d'Uccle milliefleur pullets that need to move on. I could bring them if anyone's interested. They were hatched by a broody here this summer, and are just extra in my flock. Mary

I will be at fowlfest. Went to see my breeder today to help her work on gift baskets-it's our ASA Nationals!!! because of my hand/wrist injury and lack of time to work with my birds, i wasn't going to show but she talked me in to is so I may have a few there-please come see me and the birds!!! It would mean a lot to have my Michigan friends there!!!
