Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

HELP! We had two Pekings, one of which has bad legs due to an untreated niacin deficiency as a duckling. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Tim, (Tiny Tim) our special boy has lost his buddy. We are looking for another duck to keep him company. He gets around okay with his legs and is able to get into his pools and beds fine. Although we are open to others, we are hoping to find another duck with special demands. Tim has been with other ducks since hatched and has grown very lonely since the loss of his brother. Because of his legs he has his own 20' x 10' totally enclosed, predator safe pen with a few pools, a duck house large enough for a person to stand inside of, and is allowed to free-range during the day. He even gets to come inside for therapeutic swims to strengthen his legs during the winter. We are leaning more towards finding another impaired duck so Tim is able to keep up with it. PLEASE reply if you know of any rescue groups or individuals with a duck they are willing to part with. It does not have to be a baby, we love them all the same. Tim loves all other animals so we aren't worried about him bonding with a new buddy.

Well, we have a bunch of Pekins, and other ducks. Just so happens one is lame, and has been since we got her. We have been considering have her processed but you could have her. But, I live in Muskegon so it's really up to you. If you are interested let me know. Text 231-828-5609

Anyone in West Michigan (holland area)? I'm new & have 5 week old chickens! Just saying hello to all the michigan chicken folks!
welcome cozy,

Raz, hope things go well with the Dr. for you

Birdman, hope your situation is resolved, not sure what was going on with the need for the antibiotic, I guess I didn't read back far enough,

What a lazy day at my house, watched movies , walked the dog, collected eggs, watched some more movies.

Happy day all, keep warm

im glad i stocked up with antibiotics before it was officially announced at the farm stores. also got more at Octobers bird show. and even more lucky to have a awesome vet that sells to me over the counter meds vrs farm/office visits.

Once you establish a Veterinary-client-patient relationship your vet should be able to supply you with medications, although they may need to see some patients. Establishing this relationship for a farm involves a farm visit. Vets who supply medication without establishing that relationship, give out medication indescriminantly, or provide medication that is used incorrectly, may be liable If something goes wrong. This would put their livelihood at risk. All a part of holding folks responsible for their choices, I'm afraid.

most definitely
i have them out when needed or bring animals in when needed. im pretty knowledgeable in most cases, but not all. having a good vet is key. and glad to have 2 (1 back up) that have taken care of me and my pets/animals over the last 20 yrs.

I Know, Right!?
I've kept the coop and run paths clear but little else.....think it's finally stopped for the most part and warmer today too.
Time to fire up the tractor thrower, hope the lift works, and clear the driveway.
And clear the small shed roofs before the rain comes<rolleyes>

Located in Scottville Michigan. Hope all is well with you and your chicks. Darned cold out eh? What are your plans for spring with chickens? We are aging and downsizing and some premium chickens must go. Anyone with any interest, please contact me. We have neiderrhiners, Malines crosses, and some cross breed mutts that are young and good egg layers.
