Tonight when I closed the coop, 'Junior' white cockerel decided to jump the hen next to him on the roost. NO!!! He's now in the annex (covered) run by himself, heading for elsewhere. Maybe Munsell's, maybe done at home, but I'm over him. Anyone interested? Mary

Bad Bad but Delicious boy!
Sorry mine already all in freezer.
When I was locking up(a little early) last night one pullet was standing on another's back...not mounting just all trying to get closer to the cockerel....was funny.

I know that some folks pen 'overly randy' cockerels separately for a while, and say that things improve later. I've never done that, because the boys haven't been as busy as this one has been lately. Why breed it on? He's even harassing a few of the hens, never mind the pullets. It's over! Mary

Interesting straw wall...just stacked or staked/supported somehow?
Is this a winter 'run'?
I staked it with an assortment of steaks in the ground and through the bales, started with some 4 foot rebar stakes I found at TSC and drove them through the bales and into the ground, and as I went up I used some 4 foot fiberglass ones. I also lashed the bales together as well, along with stacking the wall with a curve to improve its overall balance as well. Wind won't knock them over short of a winter twister I think. Also yesterday I got 2 foot chicken wire and put it up on the top so that they won't hop up over it as well. lots of beytching and dirty looks at me when I did that.
