Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'm in Pierson. I'm not on BYC much.

Hi Everyone!
I'm new here but just discovered this Michigan thread so I thought I'd introduce myself. In a few weeks I'll be raising my first set of chicks. I did have 6 grown chickens (that were given to us along with a coop) last year so I've had a bit of experience with them at least. I totally grew to love it and love them! We ended up butchering them in November though so I miss them and am excited to start with a new flock mid-February.
Does anyone else here live in West Michigan (west of Grand Rapids)?

I am in Gowen....also not on BYC much..usually in the winter months becuasenot much to do outside...then it gets warm and i dont have time for being on here...hahaha

Greetings my friends,
Sorry I've been away so long but life had plans for me it seems.
I didn't want to make you worry and I'm humbled by concern you have all expressed.

So working backwards here are the highlights.
Currently at the library using their internet (still can't get it at the new home).
Received some letters from the state releasing the liens on my property AND letters that say the taxes have been rescinded. At least I think that what they say. The forms just say that the tax has been "corrected" and the amount due is a negative number.
I hope that means that the seized money will be returned. I'm past due on all bills and taxes are due on 3 houses.

Waiting for the OK from the attorney to sell the 2 houses in the city.

I had surgery on Jan 3 to remove bones in my hand. Post op was on the 19th. Sutures were removed and I got a new, lighter cast. I have to wear it for 4 weeks and then another post-op visit.

Chickens and turkeys are doing well. They don't come out much due to the bitter cold and snow. I do plow paths for them and they come out some times. My heated waterer burned out sometime in the night so I had frozen water this morning.

County crews felled several trees on my road. They left the wood on the side and I have been toting it home as much as possible. It's difficult with only one arm.

I might try the chainsaw if I can pick it up with the cast hand. Or it will have to wait for awhile.
Anyway, I've gabbed enough. I'll try to be back more often but I'm still on thin ice financially so driving to the library depends on if I make any money plowing snow.

Y'all stay warm and dry. Spring is almost here.

Think we're just about to say screw it and just go on down to the court house. :barnie:th

Sending sympathy in your direction.
I take for granted how easy and cheap LDS weddings often are (not always, some people like to go all out and make it a huge party)
Location for wedding=free and no brainer
Location for reception=free and a no brainer
Dress is usually made by family
Cake is usually made by a friend you know that makes and decorates cakes so it's cheaper
Photographer is often a friend
Once those are out of the equation, the price and trouble factor really dips. Connections are great!

I hope your lady finds what she wants for a reasonable price! It's kind of scary out there $$-wise
