Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Cool weather was a joyful relief today.
We got some rain last night but not really enough.
Got quite a few errands and chores done, feels good to shake off the heat stupor and be able to cool off quickly after activities.

2020 has not been a good year. Who's to blame? Someone has to be blamed, dammit.
Fate?

Randy, hang in there!
My April cockerels are EE bantams and white Chanteclers, all vaccinated against Marek's disease. There will also be some white Chantecler pullets, and some May chicks, all pullets; Buckeyes and Speckled Sussex.

I might be interested in one of the bantam roos. Perhaps a few pullets too.

I've been up on the garage roof all afternoon. It has been a nice cool day for roofing. Fixed a mistake I made last fall after a quickie storm repair. It's all good now and I got several courses of shingles nailed down. Taking a break right now for a few minutes. I'm getting too darn old for this kind of labour. :old

The cool days, and nights, have been wonderful!!
Trying to enjoy them fully cause next weeks forecast looks miserable.

Some critter of substantial size must have climbed on top of the run last night, kinked the wire a bit and showed me where more rafter clips were needed.

Easy fix, and no real danger, but it's left me brimming with curiosity as to WTHeck *was* it?!?! I suppose it could have been a hawk strike and I just didn't notice it until this morning....but am guessing probably raccoon.

Hello, all! It has been really amazing to find this website, where everyone is kind and helpful (and on topic 99% of the time), and where there is an actual community of people in my area!

Lord willing, once my husband and I get our house (comes with a chicken coop and run, and rabbit hutch that will probably house more chickens or quail), I'll be able to start seriously looking into getting chicks (or hatching eggs, if we can afford the equipment).

Anyone know of good breeders in the SW MI area? It would be nice to be able to pick up my chicks/eggs, but I would also be cool with them being shipped.
