12 here this AM so we are in a heat wave according to the UP had a beautiful sunrise, now we have heavy clouds Oh well next week is February, so spring is on the way

I'm also a "definite maybe," but I sure would love to go.

Low of 12 last night. The chickens seemed totally unfazed by it all. So my first really cold night with chickens has passed uneventfully and I can relax a bit. Whew.

It’s a sunny/balmy 26 degrees at 1:30!!! The sunrise this morning and sunny day today sure makes the temps more manageable. I am at least lucky to see the sunrise in the winter

I would love to come to CS2021! It would be nice to meet everyone.

Sounds like many of you order chicks...I would like to get a few more to add to my original group of ladies now that their coop is done. I just spoke to TSC and they are getting their chicks in on February 28th!!!! Now just need to get electricity installed so I can get my heated watered installed and area for the littles once they are feathered. Rookie mistake!! I think I over engineered the ultimate product for only 5 ladies...oh well...cant take it with you right?? I would like to get 4-5 more girls.

Oh dear, if TSC starts their chicks days on Feb 28th...

The plan is:

One of my girls goes broody and means it.
TSC will order Blue Australorps and I will get four pullets.
My broody will be a stellar mom and integration will be seamless.

There! Simple, huh? What could go wrong, except that none of it might happen.

I am tempted to take a road trip to Meyer Hatchery in Ohio. My family is from Ohio and after being cooped up, it might be a nice distraction. They will also do small orders.

What are everyone’s thoughts on getting vaccinated chicks for Mareks? Townline has a minimum order number and they do not supply stores with vaccinated chicks...just curious.

@Sally PB...sounds like a great plan!!

I always have chicks from hatcheries vaccinated against Marek's disease. If it ever arrives here, those birds are more likely to survive, while my home hatched unvaccinated birds will not do so well. And I'll want to know if it's here too!
