Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

@Sally PB i integrated my girls at 5 weeks in the same way you are talking about. I had a separate space in the run and I separated them in the coop at night. I did that for 2 weeks. Last night was their first night all together on roosting bars as the littles now follow the bigs into the coop when it is bed time. It all worked out fine as I opened it up this morning. The bigs were a bit disoriented, and the littles stayed put until I opened the door…but no carnage. I am shocked how well they integrated. GOOD LUCK!!! It will go fine. Just have a space your littles can escape.

I know it seems obvious, but just because something is "all natural" does not mean it is not as toxic as all get out. Anything that kills off mosquitos is going to kill of a ton of other insects as well, many of them beneficial. Applying bug spray to yourself is just as effective.

A fan in the coop will not only keep the birds cooler, it also works to disrupt the mosquitos.

I hear Lemon Thyme works well as a mosquito repellant. I have some growing this year, just have not needed anything yet - but the skeeters here just erupted out of hibernation. It does appear that we may not see the usual spring blackflies, but that remains to be seen.

The only thing not here is the access panel, which goes under where the second nest box is. I was going to use hardware cloth for this, but I had a piece of chicken wire that fit the area with very little cutting.

Darl, my roo, is giving me the stink eye for being in the way so much today.

Chicks out there tomorrow?

I recently got a letter from them stating that I needed to repay them for all of 2020.
Trouble is, I never filed for unemployment.
Someone may have filed under your name. Suggestion…pull your credit report and make sure no one has stolen your identity. That has happened a ton over covid. Lots of horrible people out there
