Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

For not being to scheduled for work this week, I have been up early and busy every day this week. Found out on Monday that my house furnace is completely shot and can't be repaired. Heating company is going to work up an estimate but I haven't got it yet.
Doctor appointment in Bay City yesterday so a long day on the road and on the way home ran into a wicked rain storm. Torrents of rain kept the speed at 20 MPH for quite a while. At least I was able to get critter feed in BC before the rain hit. I hate running out of feed like that. It was a long 5 week month between SS checks. Now I have to waste half the day running errands in Bad Axe before I can come home, crack a beer and clean litter boxes.

At least there is a car show on Sunday.

A couple of local tree trimmers gifted me with several loads of tree trimmings. Used the tractor to to move and condense the piles. I ended up with a mound 18 feet on a side and nearly 9 feet high. The chickens wasted no time in checking out the new mound.

Not much here today. Just cleaning everything. They sure are messy. But got panels and more wood in today. Hopefully tomorrow at least the house comes up so they can have their own house. Not worry about the run. I am always outside in the back and I can keep and eye up and out. The quackies are still scared of me. But I know that once they have their own place, they will be more comfortable than now going in and out so everyone has space.

That stuff is nice to have around. We had the good fortune of getting well over a dozen loads just as the frost was going out of the ground. The tree trimming company didn't want to haul half loads to the place they dump it, so they asked if we want some, I said sure we'll take 5 loads! They just kept dumping and dumping until I put a sign in front of the piles that said "NO MORE DUMPING" in flourescent orange! They then went to my closest neighbor and asked him, he also said give me 3-4 loads, but he got about a dozen loads. It not bad having that much as we have a good place to keep it, it just felt a bit disrespectful for them to keep dumping when we clearly gave a certain number of loads.

Greetings from Caribou, Maine! We drove it in two days, spending one night in Syracuse, NY, which was about the half way point.

Actually, DH drove the WHOLE thing. I offered several times, but he said he was doing fine. About 1400 miles, including the wrong turns and unmarked "no eastbound re-entry" that took half an hour to fix.

Gobs and gobs of fields of potatoes out here. Most of them are in flower now. In fact, last weekend was the "potato flower festival." :gigLots of road side stands selling "new potatoes" for $5 a bag. We have new potatoes at home, so no, not buying any.

I told DH that tomorrow I am sleeping in. We got up at 4:30 am on our travel days, and also today so we could go do something with our friend in the morning. So tomorrow, I am sleeping past dawn. For the first time in 2+ years. Get me up at 8:00, dear.

Tomorrow is the wedding, and it's outside. It's supposed to be nice, but hot. I'm hoping for a breeze.

Nothing much here. Began working on the house but it was a puzzle. The floor is done and secure enough for anyone to stand on in case there is a need. However, thinking on the roof and the other 3 walls. I am not going to put a fron panel yet until closer to winter. Then I can put an automatic door on it. Small door for them, big door for me.
I did some weeding next to the lettuces but I need to re-weave the tomatoes. I think that with the last rain and watering in the mornings, they had come loose some. Long day. Heading the bed early with my book.

I hate it when the insomnia hits me. Woke up at 5:00 am with no chance of returning to sleep. I'm working today so my alarm was set but a couple more hours of sleep would have been nice. There was a very brief thunder storm roll through. About 5 minutes in length and not enough rain to wet the porch. Supposed to be sunny, hot, and sticky today. I think I'll take the car to work. I need to gas her up for tomorrow. I hope tomorrow is nice for the car, truck, motorcycle, and tractor show. They block off downtown and we all park right on the street. They have these events all around the Thumb area in different towns as they celebrate some festival or another. They are usually a lot of fun to attend. County Fair is next week. Gotta love the small town atmosphere.

With a morning to fill, we went for a walk along a snowmobile trail. Until the flies found us and Freya. They were relentless, so we came back to the hotel. So is the heat and humidity.

Really hoping for a breeze during the wedding.

After my friend gets married, she'll be a grandma. Her hubby-to-be has a couple of grandkids, and another on the way. I can't think of her as a grandmother... :barnie

Not a lot, but the house has roof and three walls up. Tomorrow the double doors.
Ask the hub to please water the garden and he notice some movement by the fence, then he heard the kids saying, "new and bigger chicken coop" Then he came to the end of his wire fence to look between the fence. I knew the reason he was not happy for me to put up a fence is so they can see all that I do in my backyard.
But, I have a lot of plastic bags. I will put them in between each part of the fence and them at the end of my garden, I willput a tarp completely up. His house is higher and if the stand in their back porch, they can see everything. I dislike people that just want to see all that you are doing.
Or I would find a bunch of street workers and invite them for naked parties in my yard, that will not be her taste, lol
My yard, my rules,lol
Too tired to even be sarcastic, lol Love you all.

Edited: I forgot to mention that quackies are using finally their pool under the pine tree. They look so cute!
