Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Just took my gal to the vet today to have a plugged nostril looked at. I gently dug at it several times here, but itā€™s justs so inflamed. He flushed her nasal cavities, and inspected them and took some of the gunk under a microscope to look for any bacteria, everything looked all good so he prescribed an anti inflammatory drop to put in her nostril 2-3 times a day so hopefully that helps her
What vet do you take your chickens to?

I go to Canton Center Animal Hospital and see Dr. G. I have to drive over an hour to get there, but itā€™s worth it. Heā€™s an expert in birds and had done a surgery on my duck and is now working with a hen with an odd airway obstruction. Heā€™s great. I will say heā€™s definitely not super smiley and kinda just gets straight to the point but I would much prefer that.

Are all ya'll frozen into place? šŸ¤” :frow
This morning I am šŸ˜šŸ˜‚ Friday was pretty darn cold as well. I went to the shipshewana horse auction on Friday with some friends, and we all agreed that we werenā€™t getting horses. I stepped out of the horse barn to bid on a few harnesses and cart (I won the bid) and I came back to find my friend had ā€œaccidentallyā€ bought two equines and while I was sitting there they bid on another and won. Theyā€™ve got two quarter ponies and one two year old quarter horse gelding who is already standing at 16 hh. Iā€™ve fallen in love with one of the quarter ponies whom Iā€™ve named Winston, and they said theyā€™d hold him for me if Iā€™m interested in buying. šŸ«£ I donā€™t know heā€™s quite small though so I donā€™t know if super rideable. Heā€™s eight years old and came with nothing but a negative Coggins test that came with him from Iowa. Heā€™s skinny but eating lots of good hay finally. One of my friends hopped on him when the others dared her and he didnā€™t care at all.
Iā€™m suspicious that the mare is possible pregnant. I mean sheā€™s an auction horse and we know nothing of her history so itā€™s possible. My friends say they arenā€™t concerned but Iā€™ll just keep a watchful eye out for any signs. šŸ˜šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

I would be terrified to being disease home with me. Idk. Iā€™ve always been raised in an environment where bio security is a huge thingā€¦. So when these people bought these horses and just tossed them in the pasture I was STRESSED out. Every time I go to their house to see those auction horses I immediately strip down and wash thr clothes in hot and really scrub hands and arms or shower before touching my animals.
