Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I have no chicken news today since I was running all day long with work and appointments, but I wanted to come on here and see what everyone is up to. I'm pretty tired, but still have a bit of stuff to do before calling it a night and repeating everything tomorrow.

VJ, your girls are being submissive and awaiting an attentive roo. I think it's goofy when they do it for me, but then again, it makes them way easier to catch for the night if they do it.

Tomorrow, I will be going to Lansing to address the Ag Commission regarding proposed changes to the GAAMPs.
If you are concerned about what might in the future as far as changes, please look at the MI-RTF thread, https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...o-farm-law-what-does-it-mean/760#post_9458316

If you have anything that you would like me to say, let me know ASAP and I'll try to incorporate it. If nothing else, I can add your name to a list of BYCers who want to keep their chickens in the future.

Please PM me if I can add you to the list. I'll just say that there are X number of people who want to keep backyard chickens, no names will be used.

Thanks.
Randy Z.

Nugget is seperated from the others with Noodle... they love each other.

I just think she is thriving with brain damage... it is all my fault.

Greetings Michiganders!
BYFM - chickens do crazy things. Not your fault. I am glad she is thriving!

I'm so glad I found y'all!

VJ, I'm so excited to see our 2 hens doing the dance. They're 15 weeks now, so... soon...

The tenting turkey cracked me up.

Raz, thanks for posting about your goals in Lansing. Off to read the link...

Hi everyone,
I have a young Easter Egger/Ameraucana Rooster available for trade. I'm looking for a pullet that's about the same age he is (3 mos.) - preferably an Easter Egger or a Maran but I'll consider other breeds, too. He's a handsome little roo - but he's quite hormonal right now and is quite the lady chaser! He does have a very nice little crow that will get bigger with time. He's white with a brown saddle and a bit of soft brown around his neck. He was supposed to be a she - if I didn't already have a nice roo I would just keep him but my little flock isn't big enough for two roosters.

I'm in the Flint Township/Swartz Creek area.

Saw the question about music, figured I would add to the replies. The past few days I have been listening to a funk music station on Pandora, but tonight I settled on a tango-electronica station. My music library on the computer ranges from Metallica to a little bit of Korean Pop, so there's a little bit of everything. I'm not overly fond of current rap, though older rap isn't bad, country doesn't get a lot of playtime from me either. I think most people listen to a wide range of music genres rather than solely one or two genres.

I'm not surprised Halloween stuff is out in craft stores, holiday craft items are usually out 2-3 months prior to the holiday, because crafts take a long time to make in some cases. Hobby Lobby seems to have a little holiday stuff out all year long, the store in Flint seems huge when you start walking around it.
Regular retail stores used to set holiday stuff out 6 weeks before the day itself, which works great. Fourth of July turns into Back to school, which merges into Halloween and Thanksgiving, that leads to Christmas and New Years. The past couple years I've seen Christmas displays in retail stores start earlier and earlier. Last year the displays were out mid September, 3 months early.

Menards already has Halloween candy out for sale, and we're still 80+ days away from the holiday, so I imagine there will be early Christmas sales again this year. It's disappointing to see because I really like Halloween, and it makes me feel like stores are trying to push it off the calendar.
