Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

RAZ, a suggestion, if you don't mind.
Would you add the link to the new proposed law in your signature line? I am finding it hard to go back and find it when I have the time to actually read it. I appreciate all that you are going through to keep your rights and to fight for the rights of everyone else. Even if you don't hear from each person, know that so many are there in the background supporting you and cheering you on! Just keep letting us know what each of us can do to make a difference.
For now, here are a few links. I'll add them to my siggy later after I get some rest. I'll try to get more specific if need be.
Thanks for your support.

I just about finished a post that took me more than an hour to enter. Fingers don't work well, brain is slow, computer does strange and unsolicited things and among that last group... the great censor in Ethernet just deleted the whole thing. I really wonder about that.

Brief version with caveat. Any one want to hear long one?

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh in a recent (last?) post.
Brother and wife came here and left cause he got sick.
Bryan was in a play.
Jo and I did some acting in the past.
Boat still not ready for fishing.
Hens starting second week on eggs, seems to be working out.

Some mornings it's little things that make it a good day. The coffee is hot and our roof doesn't leak so life is good.

One thing for sure, the next couple of days will definitely green everything up.

It's raining! By gum it's actually raining!

It's not real heavy but it looks like it might go on for another couple of hours, I know it started a couple hours ago. Bring it on! My pond which is normally 3-5 feet deep depending on location is down to less than 6 inches within a foot of the bank. The swamp that feeds it is dry, this won't make much of a difference but it can't hurt. it's too bad it's not raining all over the northern LP but that's just the way it's been this summer.

And good morning campers! Good morning for a cup of tea!

You did? I know I read all the posts here, there are so few yet! I don't remember you sounding harsh at all.

Hi everyone.....
Hope all is well! We've been busy as usual running here & there, doing this & that. Nothing really different has been going on in my chicken world. County fairs are going on everywhere and we've attended a few trying to support them. The rodeos are a blast but I have to say they don't compare to ones we've been to out west....still very enjoyable though!! I love the livestock barns! We watched a 4H judging on poultry. Hmmm......I could do that. Told my kids they could enter one of my chickens and I know they'd win!! lol

I picked up my first pig, an American Guinea Hog, what a Charmer he is. He's now at 16 weeks old.
Well, toodles, I'll try to come around more often, been working on building chicken tractors for people. fun on the farm.

When life slows down for me I'm gonna try to come visit.....sounds like your little farm is growing at leaps & bounds.

RaZ - thank you for informing us about the law change. Thank you for informing those in government about the importance of allowing us to have small farms!

X2

Very appreciated!

Everyone have a great day and give thanks for rain.....the crops really needed it!

I've got eggs OTW!

By the end of next week I'll have some lovely BLRW eggs in the incubator, and *hopefully* have a somewhat decent hatch! I think I got the temp dialed in yesterday, so now I just have to maintain some semblence of patience until they get here! I have a few musts on the cleaning list before then. I have to clean/sanitize the incubator, and get the brooder up and running. Should I use diluted bleach water and sun-dry the incubator, or should I use ammonia? Vinegar? It was in storage for quite awhile, so I don't want to have problems with my hatch simply because it's dirty.

We also started building our new coop. I had DH cut the boards and nailed the mending plates on, as well as the joist hangars and managed to get 3 large blisters. He gets the job of leveling the pads it'll sit on.

We took the kids to the fair on Tuesday (a LOT fewer animals in the poultry and rabbit barns this year!) and I think I need a polish. Those come in bantam and LF, right? LOVE the look of the buff laced. So....uhh.....if anyone has extras....or even eggs.....let me know.

We have a 10 acre parcel bordering 2 sides of ours that we seriously want to get. We may be a bit premature on this, but .. We know the woman who owned it passed away 2 yrs ago, and her BF owns the other 10 acre property next to hers. So, it appears that he isn't paying on her property taxes.. but we don't know now who even owns it. I guess we could go to the township to inquire (we always thought he owned it, but it isn't the case). The court has a hearing date set for Feb 2013. I assume if no one shows, it would automatically be taken by the state and put up for auction. Has anyone purchased at a state auction? I need all the advice I can get! Cause I want to be ready when it comes available.
I'm not 100% sure on this, but my BIL's FIL tried to do something like this a few years ago (only it was to flip properties and get rich quick

) and I *think* that whomever BUYS the property is responsible for paying the back-taxes within a certain amount of time.

Glad you had a good day at the zoo. I looked and looked... ;)
We love John Ball Zoo, and go twice a month. My kids favorite part of the zoo? Baby goats and chickens. Why do we live in the city?
That's funny. The chickens sure do look happy, don't they? We definately want to go back! Thought maybe I can sneak my two roos in there and release them there!
Sounds like it's time to look for some more property out in the country!
It's raining here, too! Good day to relax.

Sitting here with my coffee...thankful for the rain that my garden very much needed...I like the way you think.

swampducks, where in the northeast LP are you? I am kinda in the mideast LP so you might not be too far. :)

Well, I was supposed to work on the duck house, but since it's raining I can maybe get caught up on my knitting, and then maybe the nails will be easier to pull from the pallets. :)

I need a pond form, or little kids swimming pool, or pond liner, or something of the like if anyone has one they are getting rid of or for sale cheap. I wish we could put in a stationary pond here in the back corner, but I always get anxious about asking the landlord if I can do stuff. :/ lol Hopefully we'll have our own place before too too long though.
