Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Brethren, I do not know you personally. However, I have seen that you have a lot of supporters on here. Just remember that you do have supports in your life. Things will be tough. But, remember that you have individuals that are there for you if you need anything!

Brethren, glad the swelling is down, one day at a time, that is all you or he can do,

then surgery on Tuesday to install plate(s) and screws in order to repair. DH asked what the standard/percentage of loss is with injuries like this after all healing was completed. Dr said 50-60% return to normal after a couple of years. This does not take into account my DH's osteoporosis or arthritis. I'm wondering if he will ever be able to ride his horses again, building our house has definitely been postponed and will take much longer to complete once started, and fishing in the icy river will probably never happen for him again.

It is amazing how one moment in time can effect your plans for life so much.
Yes, it is amazing, but it only effects your life by how much you let it. I like to see it like it's not that I can't do that, but it will just be a bit more of a challenge to do. He'll be able to do all those things once his ankle has had time to heal. He'll just have to be more careful and take his time so as not to aggravate the injury. I live with this daily so I can honestly tell you in time these things will be do-able.
I have loss in range of motion of my knee which is also now arthritic. To watch me walk, though, you would never know there is a problem with it. However, I can't sit crossed leg or bend my knee fully and I most likely never will again. But that's it. It only somewhat hinders other things like climbing or biking, but with effort and care I can do them. The best example of this, though, is running. I couldn't do it for years and thought I never would again, but now I can. It all just needs time.
You both are in my thoughts and I hope your DH goes through surgery well.

Thank you everyone for your kind words of support and optimism. Having just moved up here a year ago, I really haven't made any face to face friends in our very rural area. Seeing you here and visiting with you each day certainly seems like you are my friends.

I worked on the second half of the run project yesterday. DS had placed posts the other day to "help", but decided putting them where he wanted was better than what our plans were. I re-dug all of the holes, pulled all the posts, and re-set each post he set. Hoping this afternoon I will be able to set the door posts. There will be at least 4.

DH WILL be going to doctor again today. Last night (9pm) discovered most of his foot has what appears to be Cellulitis. He marked the red edge and watched it for 1.5 hours. Didn't really appear to be increasing, but is very swollen and said it felt like 'road rash'. Refused to go to ER or call Dr office last night. Said it wasn't an emergency. Boy! He frustrates me so!! I have to work, so his DM will be taking him in yet again.
