Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi Sam,

Good to hear your voice this morning. How's the deer hunting going? The welsummers are growing and three of them are crowing, now. Take care.
Hunting has been a bust so far this season. Historically I've killed more deer during muzzle loader season and late doe season. Hope it holds true this year.

Glad the Welsummers are working out for you. It truly is a great breed.

My oldest son called yesterday wanting to give me a black mouth cur puppy. Nope. No way. Don't want to another dog as long as my old JRT is still going. Plus I don't think I'll get another dog when she goes. Almost any dog would probably outlive me and then what would Hope do with it?

I haven't a clue what your "reason" is, but in my opinion, there is no good reason for "getting rid" of your dog. When you adopt an animal it's a lifetime commitment, just like when you have children. If there is a problem fix it without dumping the dog (although if you're of a mindset to dump it, it's probably better off with someone else). If you aren't prepared for that then you shouldn't be adopting in the first place. If you do "get rid" of this dog I hope to god you don't plan on getting another one. Also, don't just try one rescue, there are thousands out there, keep looking until you find one that has room.

Well sorry my needing to rehome Tommie has upset you so much. The last time she bit my husband she really tore him up she bit him twice that time and it still is not healed! After 3 1/2 weeks. She is a blue heeler and I love her soooooo much that my husband was willing to take the chance with her but he can't keep living in fear. I really don't know what happened to her I got her when she was 9 months old and she was great till one day she decides to attack my other heeler who was around 10 at the time she for no reason would attack him I tried everything to get her to stop. He died last January and soon after she started attacking my husband! Who by the way is the most gentle guy he don't yell at her or hit her even when she bites him. I can't trust her anymore after the last bite, I have grandkids and she also took to biting my grown son. I don't know what happeded to her if anything before I got her. She is so protective of me. I tried a rescue group here in Michigan that rescues only heelers but she is so full I have to do something right now I keep her away from my husband in the house when he is up I have to either put her outside in the kennel or tie her to a heavy chair near her bed just in case I could just tell her to stay but my husband don't want to trust her. Otherwise I don't just willy nilly get dogs and then get rid of them. I had my last dog from 10 weeks to 12 years then he died, best dog ever. So yes sometimes there is a good reason to re-home a dog, I think my husbands well being is a good one. Also you can equate a dog to a child they are not the same thing.

There is always a reason for biting. It does not happen because of random chance. There is some trigger or cause. A dog in pain, for instance, is a huge reason a dog may become a biter. A full veterinary checkup is recommended for any dog who has suddenly starting acting aggressive. A dog starting to go blind, or one who has a toothache may react by biting. They can't tell us what is wrong, so we have to try our hardest to figure it out.

Another medical example. Dogs afflicted with Lyme Disease often become aggressive, almost overnight. Their joints often hurt because of the disease, and vets often misdiagnose it.

So if you haven't already, it might be a great idea to get him checked up.

Good Luck Kimmie! I totally understand. I know how hard this can be for someone. Let me know if you need anything!

So, Blackie Serema has laid an egg every other day since starting. I have not seen The Jerk do the roosterly deed, but I have caught Fibber Magee, the BL Polish, doing the roosterly deed... Oh, Jeez... So.. would they be poremas or serlish? HEHE. Anyway... The BL polish couple, Fibber Magee and Molly will be moving with in a few weeks on down to Albion to my friends. I will miss his wonderfully loud crow. The most awesome crow EVER! Did I mention it is loud?

I need some... LOL. Scotty hasn't gotten one, and he's getting ticked... My friend Brandy and her BF went out hunting, got a 10 point and lost its trail. He was so mad too! Neighbor hasn't gotten on either... I just want a steak... just one. I am the only one here who eats it...
