Cold outside, but I am starting to accept it..... a long cold winter!

It sure is chilly this morning....chickens peeked out and then right back in. A couple are in the middle of a molt, poor girls better get to growing some new feathers before the snow comes!
I have all 6 of my cute little friends today. We are making jack-o-laterns out of contruction paper today! Too fun!

Yes it is Battle Creek, MICHIGAN.

Opa I look at life in different ways then some. I try to see things threw some elses eye's when I have a bad morning. Actually I look threw my ex's eye's. And know that she is up set I woke up healthy and breathing and then I smile and it is a wonderful day again. Then there is a bright future.

I am very thankful to be able to read these great affirmations.

It brings tears to my eyes, in a good way, to find people ready to look on the bright side. I have spent much of this week worrying about people I know who are struggling with health issues or business challenges in this cruddy MI economy.

We dont want to go on cruddy MI economy. I just heard last night the wonder governor is talking about cutting WIC of all things. Yes I am for this staying one because it helps women out that need it and the other is my daughter is in need of this help. Living with her mom and pregnant.

Somethings need to be left alone and the goverment wages need to be cut hard!!!!
Enough said sorry had to vent.

Rachel had a terrible surprise in her far coop with her Ameracana's. 2 hens were dead, head and body eaten on. (actually one was still kinda alive still, really gross) 2 hens are injured. One behind the ear has blood. The other is worse, she is missing half of her top beak, eye swollen shut, wounds on the back of her neck and side. She is still hangin in and eating and drinking.

And to top it all off it left 2 piles of poop in the egg boxes!!!!!

So we had a few small holes made by the mice out there. I am figuring that it was a weasel or mink. Jon is going to fort knox it today. We had just propped up boards over the holes. (it has been on the honey do list and now it is a mandatory get done today)
This animal did dig under the foundation, but it met a concrete floor.

Bummed and now I will be contacting hillbillyroo and see if he still has some hens for sale to replace them.

Someone posted awhile ago about getting meat chickens this time of year.

Here are my thoughts:

If you have an indoor place to keep them warm. Since with the cold weather they will eat more to keep warm and increasing your costs.

I wouldn't advise doing meat chickens in your house or garage, the smell would be too much
