NOT FUNNY, Opa! Thats why I am trying hard NOT to get attached. You watch, when you take one of these boys home from ChickenStock, you are going to fall in love with them too!

That is how I make a mean rooster into a nice rooster. ( a nice and yummy rooster that is)

Did you guys know that our Govenor made a proclaimation that this Saturday, 3-20 is a no meat day?!?!? Our county paper quotes her spokesperson saying that she is planning to eat meat on Saturday....so than why proclaim a day of no meat? Friday would of been better, since it is Lent

Let me look up the link....

Good evening! What a beautiful day it was! Took the grandkids for a walk and went to the park. They played outside all afternoon. Had to drag them in at dusk! Daughter said her girls fell asleep within a half hour! She was very grateful that we tired them out. Went to Soldans in Lanising, the one behind the Lansing Mall. They are getting their chicks in on the 31st. They will have Isa Browns and SLW and a variety of bantams, ducks and turkeys. Clerk said the store on the south side usually carries more breeds. Just thought you'd like to know.

She is such a waste of tax payers money. Honestly, does she really believe that meat has no place in a health diet. Why doesn't she preach moderation, responsibly raised livestock and the benefits of raising your own food, be it a small garden, a potted tomato plant or a flock of chickens. Oh, and don't get me started on the expense. To eat a well balanced vegan or vegetarian diet is very expensive. Her statements, as usual, are ignorant. I don't mean to offend anyone, but in the infinitely wise words of my 3 year old "I don't like her"!

Ohhh 7 chickens - I LOVE your daughter's wisdom! I work in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at MSU and as you can imagine, our Gov's comments were not well received! Wonder where she thinks tax revenue comes from!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soldan's in Dewitt will be getting their chicks towards the end of the month also - I'll call tomorrow and try to get a firm date and breed details

Don't worry ya'll she also proclaimed that same day, March 20, 2010, "Michigan Agriculture Day " and in that proclamation she urges

"all Michiganians to join me in recognizing the importance of our agricultural industry, from farm to fork, and to help celebrate this day with meals made with a variety of local Michigan ingredients, including but not limited to meat, vegetables, and dairy products"

So which is it, are we supposed to eat meat to celebrate Agriculture day or not eat meat in order to celebrate the great Meat Out? I'm confused.
