HBH: Glad that your neice is doing well. I will keep her in my prayers.

Susanne: Glad you had an enjoyable time with your mom. Now that she's seen all them critters, invite her over more often. Who knows, she might just get a few birds for herself?? Oh I got a light Brahma egg yesterday so looks like by the end of the week I'll have some to put in the bator. Now if only the STD Blue Cochins would do their duties!!! I told each one last night as I was giving them popcorn..."you's better start laying soon or its IN THE POT for ya's" They were like typical children and just ignored me. LOL

Mom2. You poor thing...you've had your share lately. I feel for you. But I'll tell ya, I took in a 2 troubled teen years ago, it was a huge challange for all involved, even the other kids. BUT...I truly believe it made each and every one of us, better persons for it. It might be rough now, but in a few years you'll look back and think....its finally over and you can relax.

Sarah: Sorry about Rachel's hen.

Hillbilly Rooster: Glad you all are doing great. Wheres some pictures of that grand baby??? Come'on I know you've got tons.

Hey, where is Boyd? I seen him post on one of the other forums, but havent here in a long while. (*cups hands around mouth) "HEY BOYD are you lurking?" Miss hearing from ya.

Well I might just be a little crazy? Yesterday I called the hatchery about Pekin ducks (for meat), I ended the phone call with "you have my credit card on file, send me out 30 of them when ever you get'em hatched. Well 7:30am this morning, they called...we are shipping the ducklings today, you'll have them on thursday . So its a mad dash to daughters to get my huge water trought so I can house the lil buggers. Cant wait to see them. *scratches head WHY am I going over to get MY things SHE borrowed? Funny how that works with our kids now isnt it???

Today is the first time since the big freeze started this winter that my horses have come to the pond to drink. How enjoyable as I can see them right from my dining room table. SPRING is here and if it gets any nicer out, Id think I was in Hawaii. lol

Hope you all got to enjoy this wonderful day?

I've been trying to figure this out ever since you posted it, Ellen.

Some folks have their own "chicken dialect", so it's hard to say what breed the person using those initials is referring to.

The chickens just realized today that they really like our little dog. He was out with me digging up mole holes and the ladies were looking through his dirt for bugs and worms. Maggie actually got a worm. My poor little Serama roo doesn't know what to do both of his ladies are broody and very grouchy. He just stands over them in the coop instead of going outside into his run. Poor guy can't even enjoy the good weather.

Hi All-

I attempted to take some pictures of my Black Giant babies- they found the camera fascinating, so the pictures didnt come out too well. One in particular loves me- must be a roo. Thats my luck. I dont want to get attached to any of them, because I know that three of them are probably are going to end up leaving. Cant have a roo- unless I could figure out a way to de-crow one. lol.

Anyhowww, I cant find the cord to hook up the camera to the computer!!!!!!!!!

And then at a birthday party that was indoors. I was about to suggest we move the party to my house. DH has a keg tapped and the kids could run around the backyard. Then I remembered what my house looked like and decided being indoors wasn't so bad after all.

Hello Michigan!

Just a reminder that there are still lots of towns and cities right here in Michigan up for grabs in the BYC Chicken L.O.R.E. Project!

This is a massive undertaking, and everyone is encouraged to participate! Your knowledge of Chicken L.O.R.E. will earn you GFM Scratch, which are good towards new GFM Memberships, Membership extensions, or Membership gifts.

Remember - you don't have to select a city in Michigan - cruise the selection list and choose any city still available!

Get started now! Click on the Chicken L.O.R.E. link above for all the details, and remember your Project Managers are here to help in any way we can.

Good Luck, and Thanx for Joining In!

NOT FUNNY, Opa! Thats why I am trying hard NOT to get attached. You watch, when you take one of these boys home from ChickenStock, you are going to fall in love with them too!

Woo hoo... my husband and BIL finished the "long" brooder. It is 2'x7.5'. Not our biggest, that one is 4'x5', just the longest. The best part about the "long" brooder is I can keep it big or seperate it down into 3 small brooders. I actually just put a wall in and put the cochin and silkie babies I got from Michelle in it. I will have to post pics tomorrow. It actually started out as a homemade storage box my SIL was getting rid of and my husband talked me into taking. Now I am glad he did.
