My father never said "I love you" to me until he was 84 years old. I always knew he did he just didn't say. His last couple of years he became very demonstrative with his emotions. Wish it hadn't taken so long, that one reason I tell my sons often.

before i lose the connection...i may be MIA a bit in the next two days...my power cord has taken a most unfortunate turn.

hugs to all...and an extra bagel for Steve. w/ cream cheese, of course.

over and out for now...

Okay the others are

Could you all give me input
The coop is going to be an outhouse LOL 4X3 that is 12 sq ft that would be 2 per hen and they will have large yard to range

It must be going around Sam.

Cit, while I am very far from one to give chicken advice I like my Isa Browns, they are very friendly and are egg laying machines....so are my Buff Orpingtons. It seems like with the cold weather my EE's pretty much quit laying and the Isa Browns and Orps just keep on. Only way I would know that is because of egg color.

Has Miss Jabber got her cord replaced yet?....I need another bagel to go with this coffee.

Hey Kristin, "Handy Dick" left out a chicken all night. Luckily Mia is ok...I have that dog house out there and sure she spent the night there. He was out with the dogs and asked him to lock up the chickens while I did dinner. That will be the last time I ask him to do that. Why is my to do list is getting longer, and his is always getting smaller? Well, off to Lansing I go.....

Excuse me -- but to you 2 "Michigan Guys"...
how did your coop/run and the gals handle all this nasty weather!?
I'm an ex-Waverly gal transplanted up here to Ludington... and we got NAILED-- and the storms took-out my run ! My poor Guys an Gals are housebound...

My Big gals are still laying, but the banties have really slowed up....

(BTW-- is Bagel-Haul Deli still around??)

Lansing. Whacha buyin?

Marli, my Isa Browns are very friendly. I have 6 of them and every one lets me pick them up. They are unafraid and not flighty. I had 4 Orps, lost one, and although they are also friendly, these Isa Browns just seem to be more so. A fella down at our TSC was the first to tell me about em, he raises 50 at a time and had high praise.

I will have other chickens around here, but there will always be a place for those Isa's. As far as I know Townline is the only hatchery that sells them, maybe I'm wrong but I've neve seen them elsewhere.

Balmy?....time to open up the pool!

Mine handled the weather real well. The lowest temp I had in the coop was 12 degrees. It was a very steady 9/16 most all last week, one day it jumped to 10/16 and two days ago 12/16. I have a BO that is in molt. and the 4 EE's are laying one "different" colored egg a day. Yesterday it was back to 9/16.

Waverly huh? I used to wrestle Waverly, guy pinned me in 15 seconds...he was good. The week before I pinned someone in 9 seconds....it had to be a fluke. I haven't heard of the Bagel-haul but MJ might want to start one.

Steve,

I've been doing some searching here and came up with Townline or Burkey as sources for ISA Browns. I thought I saw them in another catalog somewhere but can't find it now. Maybe it was a listing for eggs in another forum that I saw.

Will have to think hard about whether to get more Orps or try ISA this Spring. Better not plan to get both. Already have too many different kinds of chickens on my "want" list.

Both my BO's and ISA's are sweet, but the ISA's are fiesty and they are also the brains of the flock. If there is a way to escape they well find it and then teach everybody else

.
Recommend both.
