Is there a partition in the dog house? Or one big room? I would think they need some separation cuz the mammas but get possessive of the babies. When they get a lil bit bigger than it wouldn't be such a problem.
Nancy, I was wondering why my EE's weren't laying and egg production dropped among the others. The pullets had started to lay so I was getting alot of little eggs. Well, found a community nest in my maiden grass out front...11 eggs!! Those lil stinkers! How's Steve's PT coming along?

I wouldn't suggest allowing a broody to stay with the flock. As soon as the chicks hatch the peeping sound seems to be like a dinner bell to the rest of the flock. I also wouldn't try putting two sets together until they are several weeks old. I'm pretty sure it would lead to fighting betweeen the two broodies and the chicks would probably make a lot of noise cheering their mother on.

This stupid molting is sure playing havoc with my egg production. I thought yesterday was bad with nine, but today was only five.

Thanks for the input - All of the broodies have been together in the coop....I can put a divider in the dog run and think i'll do that - thanks -
Steve: Has just about 100% of his wt on his foot w/the boot (walking cast)...will graduate to no boot early next week and then begin putting wt on the foot - 25lb increments...will keep you posted - thanks!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would like a FREE rooster. He's a very pretty sebright. We have two roosters and only three hens so now that they are 21 weeks old its not going to work so well.

Yeah, that would be cool if the Mason one did it too. There will be a big auction west of Charlotte Friday and Saturday if anyone is interested. http://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/931177.html The animals sell on Saturday, but some of the supplies sell on Friday and Saturday. They have one every spring and fall. If you click on the files it will show a flyer for the auction.

Is it just me or do I only see horses there? I WISH I could have a horse again but no room here unfortunately.

Today wasn't such a good day for me as I was sick all day, but I was happy it was warmer weather so I could sit outside and watch the chickens and ducks. All 5 ducks are getting along great, even sharing the pond now, woohoo!! Sadie is protective of those little ones for sure! I let the big ducks go out of the duck run. They didn't go very far at all, like they were afraid if they went somewhere they couldn't see me lol

Chickens were great for some comedy! Pretty Boy (serama roo) seems to be popular with not only his own lady, but all the quail roos. They were all fighting over him, it was pretty funny! When it was time to roost, all 4 quail hens, the serama (aka serama mama) and Pretty Boy were at the time. Serama mama on the left, the girls on the right. One of them was nudging her head into his feathers and serama mama was trying to push them off but Pretty Boy wouldn't let her. I think Pretty Boy is cheating on his woman...with 4 others lol

They have it once a month during the summer. Oct will be the last one. I was able to re home all my extra roos last month but now my Phoenix roo decided to try flogging me. I am the only one he has done this with

I don't want him for breeding and DH is really talking about wanting a Black Austrolorp roo.

We have 5 nest boxes in the new coop but only one gets used. Here the BA did not seem to care that it was already occupied....silly girls.

The Yutzy's flyer only shows the stuff that was consigned early, there is usually 10 times the stuff listed on the flyer. There is usually lots of small animals, rabbits, chickens, ducks, etc. Usually some goats, pigs, sheep, occasionally calves, llamas, mules, donkeys, and tons and tons of supplies. Plus household stuff, lawnmowers (I think in the spring there were over a 100), 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, farm equipments, trucks, cars, boats, trailers, lumber, tools, guns, and so much more I can't even think of it all.
