I know!!! LOL I know of two, Howell & Williamston.. IDK if DH would like that. We had a 12 hr flight last night, got to the hotel in NYC and didn't want to leave the room so we just stayed in and now we have to pack back up and get on another plane, only for 1.5 hrs though.

So chicks are only at TSC and not Family Farm right? It'd be much easier for me to get to FF than it would be to go to TSC.

ALSO: I would just like to get into my car and drive bc I haven't been able to drive for over a week considering that I was in a pretty strict country.

CRICKET!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are flying in to Metro? You are going to fly right over my house! I live about 2 miles from the airport! I will wave!

The airplanes fly a straight line directly over my house-as they are coming down low to land and make all my birds think they are the biggest hawks they have ever seen!

I'm so happy! First I saw 2 red-winged blackbirds. Then Friday I saw a bunch of turkey vultures, and yesterday, I saw a ROBIN!! There are two in my yard this morning. SPRING is near!

We won't hold it against you that you are a Buckeye Rockinpaints!
Just want to add that the 13 blue Orpington hatching eggs arrived very quickly from you and were wrapped so carefully! Thank you!!! I put the eggs into my new Brinsea incubator on the 11th and will be doing my first EVER candling in a few days. Wish me luck! Skipped church today...the fall I took a week ago (ice slip...landed on running board of our 25o Ford truck ...on my RIBS!)...is really very painful still and I sneezed two days ago and felt like I ripped something or popped something. I just want to heal prior to when I can garden. ...although when I look out the window I still see a sea of white...3 feet deep.

Cute little buggars, aren't they? I have 50(ish) in the brooder coop with my BA to try out. They're supposed to be a plumper carcass, we'll see how they stack up.

Should we sperate the broodies before before we start then setting
(like a day or two)?

Are they already broody? I don't see any need for separating them early, but you will need them to be already broody or at least showing tendency for it.

How many eggs can these hens incubate?

You'd be surprised how many eggs a hen can cover. I wouldn't hesitate to give them 10+ each. Just make them some nice, deep nests.

When is it warm enough (I am just west of Alma in Gratiot
County) for us not to worry about weather (or will the hens
do it?)

As long as you have someplace they can stay out of wind and rain, you should be able to go for it anytime, imo.

Good luck!

Hello all!

I'm in Waterford, which is in SE Mich. I have seven hens and have another nine on order from Meyer Hatchery. My yard is completely snow covered still and my poor girls haven't been out of their pen in so long.

I am a Detroit teacher and another teacher at my school wants to hatch eggs. I advised her to have homes for the birds before she orders the eggs. Would anyone local be interested, and if so, do you have a breed preference?
