We have a wheaton that had splayed leg a couple of months ago - she was 3 mos at that time - we isolated her and really confined her movement for about a week and she recovered and was returned to her hatch mates. About a week ago she showed signs again of splayed legs. I have her in a small dog crate w/shavings. She seemed to be getting worse and having more and more difficulty standing and now i know why...the cage has a metal bottom which I had NOT REALIZED; otherwise i would have never put her in that cage. So the ? now is has anyone here hobbled an adult chicken. This is our plan, but I'm open to anyother suggestions (btw, it is not a slipped tendon) - we plan to wrap self sticking medical tape around each leg and attach the two hobbles together with a bandaid OR simply try a figure 8 around her legs above the joint to prevent the legs from falling out from underneath her. Any/all suggestions would be appreciated.
