I found my missing Bantam hen, next door with this huge rooster. I tried to get her to rejoin her troupe, but gave it up when I saw the relationship she and this big guy had developed. The efforts they made to stay together....it was like trying to separate Romeo and Juliet. So sweet....

What kind of rooster is this? I hope he's not one of those mean breeds, as I don't think he likes me herding them back with my broom. (He's picking fights with my bantee roos)

aww c'mon ladies, I can't believe anyone else hasn't done it. You're all just too "chicken" to fess up. Opa is a great guy and everyone loves him.

His adoration not only stretches to SC, but even across the pond to Scotland!

Got some stomach bug working on me, so haven't been getting much done, with 3 big dogs and a little yapper nothing much comes around our house night time or day, only worries we have is the pack of coyotes, the bleeding hearts around this town have a fit if you try and trap or shoot them. Let me tell you haveing a pack of 5 or 6 of them follow you on a hike is pretty dam spooky though.
As for funny sounds, I have motion lights, solar motion lights best investment ever, yard and all four corners of the house have them caught a kid breaking into our cars one year, poor kid haveing a crazy old lady with three snarling dogs pointing a shotgun at him made him pee his pants, hope he learned his lesson I tried my best to scare him to death, so did the state guys that picked him up. He had already hit all my neighbors cars.
I am a military wife there is no one else to get up and look what that noise was, besides if it isn't a bomb going off when DH is home he won't wake up anyways lol. I taught my dogs to track my kids for me just out of fun when my 21 year old went thru her rebellious faze she climbed out the window one night, I had my dog track her across 2 highways found her and booyyyyy she got a whomping in front of all her little friends to..lol. I guess that would be over controlling and abuse by todays rules. Shes all grown up full time college student full time employee and doesn't owe one red cent to anyone. Butt whompings work..lol
No eggs still goin on week 17 for the barred rocks and RiR's they keep sitting in the nest boxes just to tease me....

Enjoy the cool down everyone, I am sure it won't last long enough.

LOL you are all just full of encouraging animals sounds for me to hear. I am such a wuss. I won't go out after dark if I hear a noise if my life depends on it. My poor DH has to do all the checking. He is especially thrilled when there was absolutly nothing to be found.

That is hilarious!

I usually go out and check on things if I hear funny noises. Generally it is the coyotes tempting the neighbor’s dog. One night that was going on for hours so I was going to load the shotgun to fire a warning shot but I was too drowsy and couldn’t figure it out. So I went outside at 4am with a club trying to club them into submission. They just ran away. The rest of the night was peaceful.

So last night Aric, my daughter and I worked at Common Ground. We were supposed to work 2 hrs but the only needed us for 1 which meant we were able to see both shows on time! WOW, they were great!!! Aaron Lewis (of the band Staind) was fantastic solo, and Charlie Daniels rocked! He and his older bandmates can really rock a show for having done it since the 50's!

It was great because we got 2 free t shirts (one from Common Ground, one from my friend's company that we volunteered for), free food and parking. Couldn't have been better.

The only drawback was all the wild college kids. By the end of the night they were all drunk and stoned and crazy. The last song Charlie did was Devil Went Down To Georgia. Kids were jumping on each other, throwing each other around and I just wanted to yell "Stop! This isn't an AC/DC concert!". But the same minute i thought that, I thought "oh no, I'm old" because I used to be just like those kids at concerts lol

The one and only!

But, it was sad because when I came home I found one of my SLW pullets dead. Looks like it got sat on or something

Then all my ducks were outside the coop, all refusing to go in. I thought maybe something had gone wrong but all the other chickens were fine and asleep.

OH so cool Keyt1969! I keep saying I am going to do that one year, it is just at a terribly busy time of year! We rarely even get to go to Common Ground! SOME DAY!!!

Now add being barefoot in a pine forest to that. Oh well, haven't heard anything in a while. Think I got my point across.

It was my first time. Although I went every year to Michigan Fest, Common Ground's replacement. My daughter doesn't remember going (she's 20) so last night was what she considers her first concert.
