I would join you but I think my grass is so dead that it would pierce my feet. If I did it indoors, and on carpet does it count?

oh I was scared, thought he was gona die right before my eyes. I did what I could think to to...COOL HIM FAST, for about 10 minutes before going up to wake hubby. I couldn't have gotten him in the house by myself, he's just too big. He's was lucky I hadn't gone in to set down and crochet, he'd have died for sure.

It is worth it to learn how to do sub cutaneous injections of cool fluid, I have had to do it a few times for my large black hairy boys, and once when my old schnauzer was dehydrated from being sick, when I rush them to the vet they charged me 75 bucks for a emergency visit, plus keeping them over night and then testing even though I knew it was heat exhaustion. This heat is very dangerous for our 4 legged friends. Best wishes and I hope he feels better soon.
Once they collapse from heat exhaustion they are MORE likely to have it happen again, so be aware.

Nope. Gotta be outside. How about we allow sneakers?
Glad I shaved me legs this morning!

I've been there with so many animals who have had seizures or illnesses due to heat. It seemed every year at my sister's ranch some animal would seize and it's really scary! I felt bad for my chick today. I think it just had issues with heat since I brought it home. Everyone else made it through the day fine. We kept the dogs inside except for an occasional 10 minutes outside to do their business. I'm not supposed to be out in weather above 85 or below 20 but Aric and I took turns going out to check on animals once an hour or more. Every time we went out we sprayed the ducks and lightly misted the chickens and refreshed ponds. We changed out frozen bottles of water so the chickens or ducks could lay on them and threw in some fruit popsicles. I didn't lock up everyone until later because of the humidity. Even at almost 11 pm it's still 80 degrees with 69% humidity. Insane!

With all of that, we've also had a MAJOR family crisis with one of my kids so needless to say I've barely had a chance to sit or do anything I wanted...like eat since last night...guess I better go do that now lol

Same goes for humans. I remember my dad having heat exhaustion 20+ years ago during a day like today when he thought it was ok to mow the lawn. He was very sick. He has had it almost every summer since. A friend of mine's husband died from it. If you don't feel right, don't push it. I think that mostly goes to the men because *ahem* some (like the one I live with) thinks it's ok to do things like crawl on roofs to plug up a bat hole in our other house next door no matter what the temp is! Black tar + 95 degree temps = stupidity lol

Yes! It's like your body remembers the trama and freaks out. If you need to do any work, please do it before the height of the heat.
