It is worth it to learn how to do sub cutaneous injections of cool fluid, I have had to do it a few times for my large black hairy boys, and once when my old schnauzer was dehydrated from being sick, when I rush them to the vet they charged me 75 bucks for a emergency visit, plus keeping them over night and then testing even though I knew it was heat exhaustion. This heat is very dangerous for our 4 legged friends. Best wishes and I hope he feels better soon.
Once they collapse from heat exhaustion they are MORE likely to have it happen again, so be aware.
