How did you take care of those maggots? I have had friends remove them with tweezers and I have had friends use a solution to rinse the area and the maggots fall out. They got that solution from a vet.

It is important to keep the chickens free from poop. Flies get in the poop and lay maggot eggs which then hatch and the maggots feed on the poop and then feed on the live bird.
Any wound or poopy spot on a bird is a fly magnet........

We have taken birds to the laundry room and done a little 'butt wash' to make sure this doesn't happen. Would be good for us to hear how you helped your bird.

busy place again. Guess the heat has every one hunkered inside on their computers. Welcome to the latest additions.
My over bearing duck situation has finally reached its limit as the two male ducks are chasing the pullets, chasing all the bantams, chasing my DD and one is ripping the neck feathers out of the other all the time. We have found a home for one boy and will have to see how that changes thing in the chicken yard before we decide whether or not the other duck will stay or go. We may get him a girlfriend if he settles in.

A butt fluff trim would also help out so you can examine the area better, and also keep poo from building up too.

Uhh honey, what do you think I cook? Apparently she's never seen someone order in mandarin either.

Never? That seems highly improbable. How much do we know about this girlfriend? :: Vulcan eyebrow raise ::

We know that her family's dirt poor, she's the youngest of 4, and her parents pretty much don't wish to be bothered at all. I actually do believe she's never been out for chineese, as they don't spend any family time.

Two kids from across the street decided to run thru the block firing thier airsoft guns at the house windows. I was up late working and had the pleasure of being the ones to phone it in. Which may I add is taken seriously out here, even airsoft guns are treated as firearms in town. One of the kids has been in trouble before (when he was 12 he beat up a 6 yr old, for riding his bike on the wrong sidewalk). Well as the kid lives across the street, of course I can Id him (to be clear, I managed to see him standing 10 feet away, shooting at the neighbor's). So now at 2am i'm plenty awake, the Pd knows I favor red satin nighties, and tonight's thai chilis are getting revenge.
