Glad they fit in so easily! They're such docile birds. The ones I had were always hanging around the edge, so I'd sneak them some scratch when the others were too busy with theirs to notice. And funny about him being gentle. Mine....if the girls sqawked at his attentions, he was, like, apologetic. You could see it in his eyes!
But that roo, Beauregard, timid though he was, had a huge heart. One day we heard this strange persistent loud noise, and it was him! Warily and noisily circling a toy stufffed eagle my son had left in their yard, while EVERYONE else was in hiding. Even the big guys. So my hubby had mercy on them all and removed the offender......
Then dark started coming earlier, before I was always home to shut the pop door, and I noticed he had started to hang out right next to it. Strange. A couple of nights later, we found him. It turns out the neighbor's cat had been visiting, he knew it and was guarding the door until we could close it. He must have gone out, and it strangled him.
I was SO mad!!! And sad. That beautiful timid rooster gave his life for the whole bunch of them.
Will you have pictures up soon?
