Trick or treating was a success......Nice pics of kids & pets everyone! My kids get more candy than they actually want so in the candy tin at work it goes for our little clients! Yesterday was nice, got a lot done outside....my new shed arrived and I started to put the bales of straw around my coop!! Fall/Winter clean up is falling into place and almost complete. Today looks like it's gonna be another fairly decent day so far but bummer for me....I have to go to work. Here's a pic of my new shed & coop under going winterizing. DH is going to stain it later this afternoon ( he's such a good man)...hope the weather holds out and doesn't play any tricks!! Good day everyone!

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween. The weather was great! My son is sorting his stash this morning and putting it in baggies - one for each day. We are working on self control!

I've been battling fowl mites for the past two months. I have taken way too much advice and still there are mites. I was fed up with them because they have moved on to biting me.... can't find them on a chicken or in the coop but I still end up bitten. So yesterday I called the MSU extension poultry vet. They have always been the one I call if I need a avian vet since we don't have one locally. I was told dusting is pretty old school with lots of work and not very good results. Also unless I want to use some strong pesticide treating the coop doesn't do much.

So I unplugged their light from the timer last night. This morning before they were running around I put 2 drops of Ivomectin on each one and then sent them on their way. I will clean out the coop and put down DE. I was covered in poop by the time I was done, but all 36 chickens and 5 guineas have been treated......I just have to repeat in 3 weeks. My DH suggested I might need a few drops myself:rolleyes:

Gosh, Good luck with that Taprock. Did the MSU extention vet make any suggestions about treating the coop? Could they be living in the wood perches?
Thanks for sharing this with us. Helpful to know.

My, what a beautiful day!! Sunny and crisp. Perfect weather to work outside. Took the dogs for a walk and let them play in the dog park. Pulled weeds to feed to the rabbits. Chickens are out free ranging... everyone is happy and content. I feel blessed. Hope everyone can take advantage of this beautiful day.

Well you know what they say don't you?

If you dream a lot, at least you have them, and those that make fun of you for them are just jealous cuz they have none of their own.

SO, Opa, keep dreaming about the weather situation. I am with you on that dream 110%!
