decided to name the puppy Zeva. She is really cute and a bundle of fun. My parents fell in love with her in about 10 minutes for each of them. Just got home from shopping, so i will put photos up tomorrow.

GOTA love the snow, out doing chores this AM and noticed some foot prints in the run. went to get the flash light and went all around inside the run and sure enough there are tracks leading up to and through the fence. I have 2"x4" stockade fence all around and poultry netting over the top, the whole run is inside a the back yard which is inclosed by 4"x? stockade fence. I think it may be a possum as it did not look like coon prints. and cats don't generally squeeze through 2" wire. The out-side area has the small wire mesh but the critter just went along the fence till it ran out so, guess I get out the live trap and finish wire mesh around the entire run area. Any one know of a bate opossums can't resist?

Raz, I would think that is from pecking order. I have had blood like that in the coop and on the waterer, It is very noticeable on white. combs bleed like crazy, I have seen this happen with my birds and it heals up well. You may not have noticed some of the bites before saw the blood and it has been going on for a while. They seem to need to test the pecking order from time to time. being inside more now because of the weather, mine go in very early, "first one on the roost gets the best spot" There always seems to be some jostling and poking before they are all happily positioned for the night.

snowflake

Try peanut butter and honey mixed and place it in a metal
soup can placed in the back of the trap. Make sure to
only cut about 3/4 of the soup can top around with the
can opener. Put the mix into the can and shut the lid.

Too bad that we are so far apart- we are two hours away. Ive been in your situation and it stinks!

Brahmer, if you can't find a buddy for your chick. Put a mirror in the brooder with it and it should calm the little guy down.

there is a good article in the Backyard Poultry Dec/Jan issue that talks about legalizing chickens in your community they may have some suggestions that may help

Good Morning Everyone. The fresh sprinkling of snow sure makes everything look pretty out here. I was a genius this morning and found a easy way to get my water out to the pen.....I used my kids sled!! So easy & hassle free. My DH will snow blow a path when the snow gets deep and the sled will make it smooth sailing.

The chickens were up and ready to get out in the pen. I brushed their walk off for a little bit of snow got on it and I know they would of thought....What the heck, that white stuff again! lol

My family & I spent the afternoon in Frankenmuth yesterday and had dinner @ Tiffany's. I must say for as much as we've been there over the years that little town always amazes me with the traffic it gets. Everyone came home with something except me. We were in a gift shop that had some very nice & reasonably priced items....Chicken items!! I spotted an oval rooster plate for my kitchen but it was sold out.

Oh well maybe next time!

Off to church we go......Everyone have a Wonderful & Blessed Day!!

Good Morning everyone!

Woke up this morning with a terrible cough. One that bears watching. Deep- seems to be more than just a cold. Feels like bronchitis or more. My voice is about gone, and breathing proves to be a labored affair. Nothing like working all week, sick, and preparing for Christmas.

Last night was the family gathering for my husbands' side. Good time, great food. It was really nice to see all the little kids in the family having a great time.
My mom will come over for Christmas Eve, as always. Then back to normal next week. My husband is going hunting the Monday after Christmas. One final attempt to fill the freezer before the season ends.

Everyone have a great day!
