Message this morning from Keyt, she had candled her eggs and said all the Lemons were porous?? Something about this usually meaning a bacterial infection or something and to watch to see if any of them start to "sweat", get rid of them because they can explode and the stink of it is terrible.
Anybody heard of this?

I haven't candled mine yet, was going to wait till dark about 5-6 pm. Im afraid now I won't have any Lemons. She said the only good eggs were ones I tucked in from my own chickens.

Is there a thread for this sort of thing? Bacterial infection? Should I just throw all the eggs in the incubator out and disinfect? Oh me oh MY??

I took pictures of the run I built, but my 6 yr old doesn't feel like sharing the computer... Says I can use this one... Sheesh, when did jumpstart and PBS kids become more important than my handy dandy winter run!

That hen is a Icelandic. All the chickens in the pictures are Icelandics and one Sebright bantie.

Daron,
I googled images of icelandic hens. That does not look like an icelandic hen.
We had one like that and we were told it was OEGB and Silkie.
Do you know for sure that it is icelandic?

edit - note the top hat on it's head (Silkie trait?). Also is she a bantam?

From what I've read you can have some vaccinated (Marek's) chickens and some not and the vaccinated chickens WILL NOT be a transporter or carrier for Marek's to the non vaccinated. I read up a lot on this about a year ago and would have vaccinated all mine except I'm not handy with needles and my hubby really doesn't want to be involved with my hobby (chickens).
Those are unusual symptoms....have not read anything that fits that description. Good luck with your Polish Taprock.
