M.sue :

In dealing with the public for a living I found that some are just not people persons. If that makes sense. They are reserved, don't really talk unless talked to and don't start random conversations unless they feel comfortable with the other person and then the conversation is of their interest. I have a client who is an Accountant, highly intelligent, well respected and has a well established business. He's got a dry sense of humor, is on the quiet side but knows his job well inside & out. Doesn't the saying go.....Different strokes for different folks.

Well said, M.sue. Your description fits me well and I have been told numerous times people think I'm stand-offish and don't like anyone. In reality, I'm just shy and don't know how to blend well, but once I'm warmed up to someone, I associate better. Sometimes people are just quirky and others don't know how to respond to it. I like to say I march to the beat of a few different drummers.

ChicwannaB- that's funny about your little hoarders. I have a leghorn who did that during the summer numerous times. Every week it was a hunt for the new hidey-hole. As for the eggs, I have a co-worker who told me a not-to-pleasant story about her chickens and their yard nests so I do not keep them, but toss them to the piggies instead.

Well, my 3 yr old just dumped 10 fresh eggs on the floor and bottom of the fridge. What a mess. So, I scooped up as much as I could and scrambled them for the refugees. They are still up. The light goes out at 10. Well anyway, I am in the garage and decide to look in the nest box I made for Buffy and Leila since I have gotten late eggs in there, and Leila has been in several times spinning around making a nest hole. Nope no eggs. I happened to look down and there is this tiny lite brown egg on the floor up against the wall. A little blood on it. I know its not buffys, to small, and vanna laid hers in the bale of straw. So it has to be....wait... Wait.... My first silkie egg! Go little Leila!

so, I got 6 eggs today! I only have 1 to show for it tho...

That is too funny! At least you found the hoard so you can get your full quota of eggs from all the girls!

Which end? The left side is the Icelandic, the right side is HQ Golden Lace Sebright hen that came with the Icelandic flock that I brought from Jake Levi's friend.

Awesome pictures Farmerboy!! You have beautiful birds and bulls! That new coop you built is great, it lets so much light in! Boy, missing three whole days can really put you behind, huh?
